Ohio State Route 32

The Village's published agenda confirms the Wedge Development pre-annexation agreement was before Council that night.

Officials described the property as generally located between State Route 32, Herald Road, Old State Route 32, and the Trotters Way area.

The proposed project would be mixed use with retail along Herald Road and residential development behind it, including apartments, rental units, and attached and detached single-family homes.

Village solicitor Chris Moore said a key component is the opportunity to bring a large, national retailer and grocery store to Batavia.

The developer must still pursue annexation through Claremont County.

If the property is brought into the village, the concept plan and PDU rezoning would then go through Batavia's planning and zoning process before returning to council.

Council members said they want the later development review to address traffic and infrastructure, including sidewalks along Old 32, improvements to Herald Road, possible intersection improvements and accelerated deceleration lanes along State Route 32.

Officials said a traffic plan would be required before the development receives tentative approval.
