Farrell had previously been nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in L.A. Law.

Farrell's performance on stage in The Seahorse earned her an Obie Award, a Drama Desk Award, and a Theater World Award.

And, um, but in the meantime, we said, "Let's put this one on." And so we've become kind of partners in crime.

And so we've kn- known each other for several years now, and we, uh, worked on this, and I'm very, very excited, and I got an Obie Award winner actress, Angela Pierce, to play Christine, and she's surrounded by wonderful, wonderful actors that, uh, were cast by a casting director called Cyndi Russ and, uh, her partner Allison Frank.

And these were all actors I didn't know, and, um, I'm, uh, you know, over the moon because I'm really-- I have this fantastic team of creators and theater makers that are really, uh, bringing their heart and soul to the process.

And then, even better, well, not better, but as, as amazing, is to create the soundscape for the show because, of course, when you do a show in a festival, you're, you have a lighting plot, and so you can't necessarily put your imprint on the l- the lights or the set 'cause you have 15 minutes to come in and, you know, get out.

Gary William Friedman is a versatile composer best known for his groundbreaking score for the Tony-nominated, Obie Award-winning musical, The Me Nobody Knows.

In addition to the theater, his music spans the genres of jazz, film, symphonic, and liturgical works.

His orchestral, operatic, dance works have been commissioned and performed at venues such as the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, the Lancaster Music Festival, the Columbus Symphony, the Festival at Standpoint Idaho, and the Encompass New Opera Theater.

My recollection is that it was in the early 70s, 1970s,

Yes, it was actually late, it started in 69, the beginning of it, and we opened at the Orpheum Theater off Broadway in 1970, yes.

You got the Obie Award, the Drama Desk Award, you were nominated for Best Musical, five Tony nominations.

You were just a young kid at the time.

He wrote the screenplay for the reimagining of The Color Purple, which came out three years ago, and it's a great movie.

He is a 2019 Obie Award winner for his play, The House That Will Not Stand, [smacks lips] and in television he has written for Maid, Boots Riley's I'm Virgo, The Chi, Foundation, Tales of the City, and Netflix's Mindhunter.

He is also the co-chair of the Playwright Program at the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University.

Now Pacino and Cazale had gotten their start together.

In 1968 they both won Obie Awards for their performances in the off-Broadway play, The Indian Wants the Bronx.
