Obedience

Second day, St. Francis said, When I say Hail Mary, the heavens smile, the angels are filled with a new joy, earth exalts, hell trembles, and the devils are put to flight.

Third day, St. Francis said, Obedience, proceeding from faith, is the test of true hope, the sign of charity, the mother of humility, and of the peace of God.

Fourth day, St. Francis said, Everything man does here below passes away, but he will receive from the Lord the reward of his charity and of the alms he has given.

Fifth day, St. Francis said, Let us always and everywhere cling to our faith and believe humbly and firmly all that it teaches.

It says, we destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive to obey Christ.

My God, being ready to punish every disobedience when your obedience is complete.

So, Obedience is how you truly work out your faith in Christ.

And in order to be obedient to Christ, you have to surrender your mindset, everything about what you grew up, your culture, your traditions.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but it should not influence you.

It, it is so much...

God desires so much more than- Obedient robots.

He, he doesn't desire obedience, but he desires the relationship with us, right? So-

God sends them to us that we may detach ourselves from the world.

Remember, we are mortal, and so withdraw from the dissipation of the world to thoughts more useful and holy.

Fourteenth day, St. Francis said, Obedience is always better than an obtained permission, for in the latter there is something of self-will, whereas in the former there is but the simple accomplishment of the superior's orders.

Fifteenth day, St. Francis said, Supreme wisdom consists in giving oneself up to the practice of good works, watching over oneself, and meditating on the judgment of God.

Make a note.

Information is not the foundation Obedience is.

He says, "Those who hear my word and obey it, those are the wise ones.

Build your life on this.

Information is a- not your foundation.

Information will not save you.

Obedience is.

Hearing about Jesus is not enough.

Then thou shalt have good success.

He ties in clearly here, Obedient.

If you love me, Jesus said, keep my commandments.

Do what I'm telling you to do.

There is no amount of prayer that will substitute for obedience.

If God gives you an instruction and say, "Bring a seed to your father in the Lord," and you say, "Lord, rather than giving him the seed, let me fast for two days," you will fast and it's just your spiritual life that will improve, but that result you want to get, you will not get it.

Obedience indeed is better than sacrifice.

There are many, many believers who prefer to pray in replacement to obedience, and the reason is because, uh, in prayer, you just dissipate energy, but obedience many times will cost you.

It will cost you to part away with physical things.

Father, in the name of Jesus.

Listen, let me tell you, um, it doesn't work that way.

Obedience is a powerful force.

Tithes and offerings belong to God.

Obedience.

to his commandments, all these things.

We should be showing God our allegiance through these things.

It appears that some passages in the Critique der Praktischen Vernunft which exactly suit this connection were the immediate occasion of the verses.

Thus, for instance, on page 150 we find, quote, Obedience to the moral law which a man feels incumbent on him is based not on voluntary inclination nor on endeavor willingly put forth without any authoritative command, but on a sense of duty, end quote.

Yes, it must be commanded.

What slavish morality! And again on page 213, quote, Feelings of compassion and of tender-hearted sympathy would be actually troublesome to persons who think aright, because through such emotions their well-weighed maxims would become confused, and so the desire would grow up to be rid of them, and to be subject solely to the lawgiver, reason, end quote.
