I don't know how much we can be upset that he chose Mexico.

Obed Vargas basically said, I was always going to choose Mexico, and everyone in Seattle knew that.

So it doesn't seem to be that much of a competition, but there are more young players coming through.

On that side of things.

But I totally agree with you.

And I think, you know, Mexico has made a concerted effort to recruit players from American backgrounds.

And we've had people on this show who worked for Liga MX clubs, who have worked around the FMF, who say like, yeah, there's a real interest in the Danny Leivas and the Brian Gutierrez of the world and the Obed Vargas.

It feels like I think for them, there's something a little bit different about their style, about their upbringing versus a very homogenous style coming out of players from Liga MX academies.

Right.

And last year, I think he would have been it was Obed Vargas and Diego Luna.

I think we're kind of one, too.

And I think that he would in this in this form, he would have topped that list and been a very fair parallel because they're closer to the end of the age group.

That's been six consecutive games without a minute from him.

No Obed Vargas today either, which I'm not really surprised by.

We saw Obed play a part in the midweek game in Stuttgart, a very complicated matchup that ended 1-1. after Atleti were reduced to 10.

So Vargas is kind of muscling his way back into the plans, maybe.

Well, going back to one game before this one, you talked about Rodrigo Mendoza and how he made a very poor – I think you recorded a video about that, how he made a very poor case for being that reliable player moving forward.

In fact, in the exact next game, Obed Vargas was back in the picture.

I think that's no coincidence.

If I have to choose to loan one, I would probably think that loaning Rodrigo Mendoza would probably help him develop other skills depending on what team he goes to.

And Obed Vargas already has that experience under his belt to not need to have that time away from the team.

But he also is probably the one who will struggle for minutes at his club level because of the competition in the spots in Seattle.

Yeah, I do think that he and Christian Roldan, and talking to Schmetz about this and covering the Seattle Sounders this year, with the departure of Obed Vargas to, funny enough, talking about Johnny, Atletico Madrid and for Diego Simeone, Different ranges, different interpretations of the way they play the, you know, Snyder and Obed.

And in an odd way, there's a weird, like, micro conversation about ceiling between the two.

And I know that's crazy to say, but what I would say is Snyder Brunel has really benefited by the departure of Obed Vargas that I think would really, in this next 18 months, be fascinating to see if he can make that jump from the 23s into the full team at some point.

Yeah.

By the way, I believe he's a dual national, maybe a triple threat national if that's the case.
