The cause of the fire and the estimated damage cost are under investigation.

And here on Oahu, we now know the identity of the man killed by a fallen tree during the storm.

The medical examiner's office tells us 31-year-old Floyd Ruiz died from multiple blunt force injuries.

The tree fell on Ruiz's tent at Waimanalo's Sherwood Beach on Monday.

Crews worked through yesterday to clear the large amounts of sand and debris left behind by the hurricane.

Early this morning, a street sweeper cleared the remaining sand covering roads within the park.

Meantime, a West Oahu beach park bathroom is buried in sand after storm surge from Lowell.

Sand filled the Ulihawa Beach Park comfort station, burying toilets to the brim, packing stalls, and covering every inch in sight.

Lowell's responsible for at least two deaths, a man on Kauai swept away by storm surge and a man on Oahu who was hit by a falling tree.

But some tourists decided to stay on Kauai

And then the other, the other island that's really...

Like Maui's huge too, so is Kauai, but the other island that always has transformed me has been Oahu because, and, and that makes sense because Oahu was where all the chiefs met.

So it was the central energy center of the original islands.

I'm honored to be a part of this because I consider myself a long lost Lemurian soul and, uh, [laughs] happy to be returning to, um, um, to Hawaii.

Um, a lot of people don't know this, but I, uh, was active duty Navy for six years and was actually stationed for four years at Pearl Harbor, Oahu.

[laughs] So I'm very familiar with Hawaii.

Uh, this is gonna feel like a homecoming for me for, for sure.

And there's enough in the budget to fly me out to Oahu.

So I'm going to go with my wife.

It's going through rewrites and it's going to tour the Hawaiian Islands Halloween week 2026.

So that'll be on the Big Island.

It'll be in Maui and Oahu.

And that's going to be really fun.

I had five days off in a row.

And at the same time, his last thing he had to do before he got this boat was to sail a different boat from Oahu to Maui.

as a boat delivery and this different boat that he had to sail over for the last task was 18 feet long so it was literally like shorter than a truck like than like a pickup truck and it was like a baby boat like it was like one of those little like sailboats it was a capri so like 18 foot capri so it's like one of those it only had it had like a jib and a mainsail and that's it like bare bones The inside cabin, you could barely sit up straight.

Like it was so small.

Like, it would not be safe.

So, I was like, okay, like, let's do it.

So, we set sail at, like, 6 a.m. from Oahu.

Everything's going great.

Now, I'm trying to remember, I've only been to Hawaii one time, but is Oahu one of those western islands there?

uh who's the one that uh honolulu was on the big island hawaii uh then going northwestward it's uh maui i can't remember those two smaller ones there with maui but that's all together they're maui county and then the wahoo's the one with uh honolulu it's the next one going northwest and then uh kauai uh is the is the one in the far west and nihao the little one just west of there okay

i don't know if i ever told you guys and i'll keep this short because it's just a personal story but uh i flew to hawaii in 1985 and flew from raleigh to dallas and then dallas to honolulu and uh the this was back in the day when they gave you a meal and a couple of drinks and a movie and all that was just standard And so all that was over with.

The United States was at peace with that nation, and at the solicitation of Japan was still in conversation with its government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific.

Indeed, one hour after the Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American island of Oahu, the Japanese ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message.

And while this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or of armed attack.

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago.
