Nutsedge is a problem.

It is one of the top three weeds in the world in terms of just where is it and how much trouble does it cause people, you know, that are trying to farm and things like that.

And how hard is it to get rid of? There's a lot of weeds that are easy to get rid of.

So I responded to Douglas with some questions and some recommendations.

Nutsedge, noxious weed, usually an indicator of high salt, compaction, and or moisture.

So if you have one of those three things going on and you have nutsedge, we need to address what's happening so what my recommendation to douglas was was to remove everything uh clean it up right now and when i say clean it up i usually don't tell people to pull nutsedge because when you pull nutsedge it makes like five new nuts edges okay it just goes crazy but at this point in the year what we want to do is if it's gotten out of control and you just feel like you can't keep up with it this is what i would do get out and clean it up so pull it clean it up beds clean put a nice three-inch layer of mulch.

Now, before, Douglas, before you put that mulch down, you had asked if you should put some compost down, some gardener's magic.

So we're gonna clean up, we're gonna put our compost down, we're gonna put our mulch.

And then what you do is we're not quite ready to plant your knockout roses and your pittosporum.

So what you're gonna do is gonna, I like to get a trigger spray of what's called Nutsedge Killer.

Now it is a chemical spray.

But yeah, here's the thing.

Nutsedge has a narrow leaf and it's a slick leaf.

And so when you spray, you need a little bit of some sort of a surfactant to help it stick to the grass blade, the nutsedge blade rather.

And so that may be it.

So again, following the label is going to be very important so that you don't damage the rest of your lawn.

So Nutsedge has been really terrible this year.
