that doesn't mean the story isn't old oral stories frequently existed for decades before somebody put them into print but until we find that earlier source she remains exactly what she was probably before or been for generations the unidentified woman of the gully And I actually prefer leaving her that way rather than inventing a convenient goldfield murder to explain her.

What I'd really like is for somebody from old Tamworth or Nundle or Manila or surrounding family to contact us and say, my grandfather used to tell that story and this is how he told it.

Because that's how we may eventually get... further back than the internet version and maybe we can get some more information like where she might have come from and why would she be holding her severed head maybe in the end all it ever was was a story to scare the kids from going down into a dangerous gully

So maybe one of our listeners tonight knows, does know about the tarpoli ghost or the yellow woman's gully.

the Bushrangers this is one of the Maunders at the age of 16 George was living with his aunt and uncle at the gold mining town of Nundle and when the Bushranger Thunderbolt Fred Ward paid the Ansties a visit Thunderbolt was sure that on the premises the family had hidden a large amount of money which he demanded to be given all the while brandishing a revolver Unable to find the cash, which was hidden in a saddle, Thunderbolt was determined not to leave empty-handed and so took a silk handkerchief, socks and ties.

Fred Ward was known to be a pretty flash dresser.

Yeah, no doubt.

But I want him to come to hunt camps and, you know, Nundle and wherever we go, he's gonna become a regular fixture, I think.

A good place to start is for those that don't know you, just tell us a bit about yourself.

So we currently live in Nundle, which is just out of Tamworth.

Um, I have my husband, Luke, and my two little boys, Wiley and Weston.

They are three and four.

Um, and then we went up to Tamworth and lived with Luke's mum up until probably three, four, four weeks ago.

Three or four weeks ago, yeah.

And now we're here at Nundle.

It's been a really, really difficult two months, and it's still so raw.

I mean, we've had kids in camp.

So in the last few hunt camps, I mean, my son, who last year would have been nine years old, was in hunt camp that we had in Nundle.

And, you know, there was this first exposure to real, you know, proper hunting in a hunt camp.

Yeah.
