Okay, so this book imagines a real-life historical figure, Nudie, the famous tailor who made those iconic, heavily embroidered rhinestone suits for Hank Williams Jr.

The Nudie suits, yeah.

Right.

It imagines him as a gay vampire bat.

I, I, I was always into, again, handmade stuff.

And have you ever heard of Nudie, like Nudie Suits and Nudie Cohn?

Mm-hmm.

So I was a real big fan of Nudie stuff because, A, I was always looking for it because it was worth some money, and, and I thought, "You know what? I'm gonna go down to Gibson's here and get some material.

I'm gonna build me some cool shirts." For whatever reason, I knew how to sew, you know? Um, I'd sewed a, sewn a quilt for my mother.

She started a quilt like in a church group, and she was like, "Look, this ain't for me, but we got to finish it.

They were like little acolytes.

And of course, did I mention even as far back as the International Submarine Band, Gram with that handy-dandy trust fund was outfitting the guys with Nudie suits, which were the incredible embellished, um, outfits that had become famous by the likes of, you know, Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, and then the country stars like Porter Wagoner and Buck Owens, with all kinds of, uh, you know, um, pictorial, uh, embroidery all over them, and fringe and-

... just all kinds of great stuff.

So Gram started, uh, commissioning Nudie Cohn, the, the, uh, rodeo tailor of North Lancashire to custom make, for his company to custom make their rock 'n' roll Nudie suits.

Instead of the country things that you used to see on the country outfits, well, for the International Submarine Band, he had some with, like, actual submarines embroidered on them.

And then with the Flying Burrito Brothers, I call it the Gilded Palace of Sin suit, or the Sin City suit.

Yes.

He is wearing what was called a nudie suit.

Apparently the guy who made them was nicknamed Nudie.

And it's like a suit in a bright color with very flashy embroidery of like Western themes.
