Novocaine

A movie I just got done watching, actually, which was really, really good, and it kind of sort of ties into Halloween.

It's called Novocaine.

Oh.

It is a 2025 movie.

But it's also an action movie, and I can definitely recommend it.

It got great reviews, and it is well worth watching.

And it's called what again? Novocaine.

Novocaine.

well, I guess

in like Novocaine.

Okay, yeah.

I can't really think of a character that would like kind of fit that.

He's like, they're the only three I need.

Just like Novocaine, give it time and it's going to work.

And that's what they did attacking those flanks.

And they got a lot of joy out of it.

there's no way we could possibly know.

Like, Novocaine.

Yeah.

Because we saw it every fucking movie.

Today on the Gilbert K Show, Oscar-winning sound designer, Sylvain Bellemare, the talent who makes you feel movies through your ears.

From his Oscar-winning sound editing on Denis Villeneuve's Arrival to Novocaine, Splitsville, and The Housewife, we're going behind the sounds of cinema.

Let's give a big welcome to the one and only Sylvain Bellemare.

Hey, Sylvain, pleasure to have you on the show.

They're very, they're very, very tiny little sound, but they're great.

They add, yeah.

Uh, in Novocaine, Jack Quaid plays a man who cannot feel pain.

He might not feel an injury, but we definitely can.

Everything is over, and it's like-

When my child's in a daze, a drugged daze, a Novocaine-

The child, children do not get drugged when they go to the dentist.

You're not drugging a child.

I got-

I've had the Nova Ca- Novocaine

... you, you get Novocaine-

Like

That's fucked.

Yeah, there's a movie about it called Novocaine with, with, uh, uh, Jack Quaid.

Okay.

The guy that the, the...

Uh, yeah.

And then y- you also had these randoms like, uh, Tim Bagley, Amber Midthunder from Legion, Prey, Novocaine.

She doesn't s- like, she's played a high schooler so recently that it's weird seeing her play the teacher now.

It, it, it's always weird, yeah, 'cause with-

Matthew, one of the most iconic of all time, right? We've seen him in Scream, in Hackers, Scooby-Doo, Five Nights at Freddy's, SLC Punk!.

Amber Midthunder, uh, you'll remember her from Novocaine, Prey, The Ice Road, Only Mine, Legion, Rez Ball, to name a few.

And the two of them play, uh, teachers in the administrator- Well, Matthew's, uh, character is actually the principal of the school.

He's dealing with a lot, not just with what's going on, bringing, you know, Carrie in, uh, having never, uh, you know, she's never been to school, but then all of, of what the ripple effect that happens all over the school.
