Lorien FentonGUEST

Lorien FentonGUEST

Sometimes I'll say Nevada where I grew up.
MonicaHOST
45:10
There's a town just South of me called Novato.
MonicaHOST
45:13
So I'm used to saying Novato.
MonicaHOST
45:16
So I'll say Nevada, like Novato, Nevada.

So now first a shout out to the examiner who was Terence Wilson out of Oakland, which of course is a little closer than my previous examiner for my private who had to come all the way from Wisconsin.
Scott ManleyHOST
1:59
And I'd asked him to come to Novato because flying into Oakland and then paying the landing fees twice would have ultimately cost me a lot more money.
Scott ManleyHOST

And it meant that I could just like get to work when I got to the airport.
Scott ManleyHOST
2:12
Now, interestingly, he mentioned that he would usually have flown in.

There was a bit of confusion on both sides here but ultimately you know we got our clearance to perform the approach but then there was a problem that we were far too close to the initial approach fix and I needed time to actually set everything up.
Scott ManleyHOST
10:24
See, I kind of had learned this trick because, well, two weeks prior, I'd made a real mess of an approach.
Scott ManleyHOST
10:32
We'd approached Santa Rosa from the north, and as we went missed out to the south, we just tried to go and take that immediately into the approach to the home airport, into Novato.
Scott ManleyHOST
10:43
And they gave us the approach far too quickly.
Adam CopelandHOST
54:56
Let's go to Mike.
Adam CopelandHOST
54:56
Mike is in Novato.
Adam CopelandHOST
54:57

Drew TumaCORRESPONDENT
17:23
Out there right now, the big story, it is chilly, 40 right now in Gilroy, 43, that current temperature in Danville, right down to 37 in Novato, 40, that current temperature in Sonoma.
Drew TumaCORRESPONDENT
17:34
So it is cold this morning.
Drew TumaCORRESPONDENT
17:36
It does take time to warm us up.

And for thousands of neighbors in flood-prone areas around the Bay Area, the current king tides may seem like a potential preview of the combined threat from sea level rise and El Nino-driven storms this winter.

DanHOST
20:53
So we'll move on to Shifty now, because he called into the radio show Guys at Five on KSVY in California to preview the short run of solo shows he's doing in December, including one at the Hot Monk in Novato on Wednesday the 16th of December.
DanHOST
21:09
And he described what it's like to switch between being in one of the biggest rock bands on the planet to effectively jumping in a van and doing his solo career.
DanHOST
21:18
And obviously the last time Shifty toured solo was a couple of years ago, and he was quite candid about why.
DanHOST
24:32
So it was great not only to hear from Shifty, but for him to be opening up and talking so positively, really, after what must have been a horrible time for him and his family going through losing their home in those wildfires.
DanHOST
24:46
But it's brilliant that he's back with his solo band.
DanHOST
24:49
And if you are in the California area, you can catch those shows at the Hot Monk Session Room in Novato on the 16th of December, Club Car Bar in Templeton on the 17th of December, and and then Soho SB in Santa Barbara on the 18th of December.
DanHOST
25:05
And if you are going along, please do get in touch because we'd love to cover those on the podcast and hear all about what goes down at the Shifty Solo shows.
