Nothing Else Matters

It did not do anything on the American charts, though.

But it did have a cover version of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters, which was really, really good.

In 1998, the Goo Goo Dolls released Dizzy Up the Girl.

This was their sixth studio album and it was their mainstream breakthrough.

So, you know, I kind of did things backwards learning about rock music, where like the bands I gravitated towards in high school was like Black Sabbath, Scorpions, stuff like that, where, but I didn't grow up listening and appreciating, like, Led Zeppelin.

So then, you know, Black Album came out and, I mean, first and foremost, Nothing Else Matters horrified me.

Absolutely horrified me.

Because, you know, like, this was the band, you know, going back to 1982, like they were just so heavy and so, like, uncompromising, and then, you know, Nothing Else Matters was just, "What the fuck is this?" But that being said, Enter Sandman, I, I loved it out of the gate.

Because, again, to your point, to, in my head too, it's the biggest heavy metal song, at least of our generation.

And then after that, like weirdly, one of the most emotional experiences I had with a song was Nothing Else Matters by Metallica.

And it was like, I was

very similar to Angela Weber stuff though.

I was like mourning the loss of a friend who had died in a car accident.

This song is important.

And I had so much fun.

doing it even you know struggling through it until I got to the point where I could do it and then it was like the next song and then it was Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin and then Nothing Else Matters by Metallica and then it just, I don't know, kept evolving sort of the same way, I don't know, my career in snowboarding has evolved.

Like I started off doing, well, just doing it for fun really and it was a family thing and then started competing and racing and yeah, just wanted to get better and then, I don't know, as things evolve, you're always looking to the next.

It's like you climb one mountain and then you're looking to the next mountain to climb and then Yeah.
