And Swiss government says Nigeria Ebola patient did not travel to Congo.

The ANC has ordered its national chairperson, Gwede Mantashe, to issue a formal apology following explicit and sexist remarks he made during a television interview while campaigning in the Northwest Province.

In his then-rebuke, the ruling party described Mantashe's comments as unfortunate, declaring that such conduct constitutes a grave abuse of power.

The matter stems from a question a journalist had asked Mantashe about allegations that a councillor was requesting sexual favours from women in exchange for jobs.

Well, at the same time, Suleiman Karim, the businessman from the North West, was due to get a decision on his bail application today.

That has now been postponed for a week or so, so he'll remain behind bars for the next week.

Um, so we've got this situation where the candidate kerfuffle might just have been a spanner in the works, where usual, uh, loyalties and battle lines of contestation over, uh, candidate positions were sort of thrown up in the air by this really weird situation of the ANC, um, having an administrative blow-up, um, and self-detonation that was sort of duly contained by the Constitutional Court.

But then, uh, s- there's also the, the possibility, um, that the ANC, and, and I think this is quite something to take seriously, that the ANC is retreating in terms of its patronage contests to new areas, where it really will turn increasingly to Limpopo, the North West, the Free State, and rural Eastern Cape for contestation over positions, over contracts, uh, BEE opportunities because it's, it's sort of, you can almost see the tide of the ANC drawing back in Gauteng.

You can see it drawing back in KZN, where it's less drawn back and just sort of rug pulled.

So there is also this, this fact that we're into a new era of the regional, uh, loyalties and regional opportunities that if you are an ANC cadre and you want access to the good old funnels and troughs of public money, you need to find yourself in Limpopo, the North West, uh, uh, or the Free State or rural Eastern Cape for the most part, um, because the other, the other provinces have sort of gone beyond your control, or in the case of the Northern Cape isn't really the place where there's much to loot.

Uh, let's, uh, have a listen to what, uh, the, uh, police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, has had to say.

He was flagged by our Cold Case Unit on charges of, uh, fraud and corruption that are under investigation that relate to the Ngaka Modiri Molema, um, District Municipality in the Northwest Province.

Um, so the team was alerted that this particular individual, um, was flying out of the country.

They flagged him.

But with animals as large, mobile, and socially complicated as elephants and rhinos, the move itself can turn out to be the straightforward part.

This autumn, twelve rhinos are due to be moved from a well-established reserve in North West Province in South Africa to another protected area, in the Waterberg region, as part of efforts to establish and strengthen secure rhino populations.

I am involved with the conservation work around the move, including research that will follow what happens after the rhinos arrive.

But there are lessons from past projects that we have to bear in mind.
