In your health news now, the Las Vegas community is invited to help an important cause by taking a walk.

Craig Ranch Regional Park in North Las Vegas will host the annual Unite for Bleeding Disorders walk on October 10th.

The event will raise money for the Nevada chapter of the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation.

The walk will feature a touch-a-truck experience and other family-friendly activities, and the CVS Health Bus will also offer free diagnostic testing and immunizations.

Some of that is some reconstruct of like Snow Mountain Interchange to bring it up to current standards.

Also, as you're going up I-15 on the north, out by Apex, the city of North Las Vegas, there's growth there.

There's growth going up 93 as you're headed up towards Indian Spring in the north.

We've had explosive growth out by the Tahoe-Reno industrial area coming back into Reno, going up into the North Valleys, 395 going up to the California has been growing, Pyramid going up on there.

So these are great programs to be able to take advantage of.

But as I teased there, there's been some hiccups in this because we've done this before in Las Vegas, actually in North Las Vegas, our tree canopy dropped from 3% in 2022 to roughly 0.8% because trees planted in that giveaway started dying.

Now, the reason they started dying is because they got heat resistant trees.

but not drought-resistant trees.

so because of that there's not a lot of funding that gets unlocked for heat mitigation and stuff so it's really tricky to get the funding and to convince people to do it or create organizations that will do it from what i understand phoenix and miami are two places or possibly the only two places that have created like heat management offices essentially and so we're trying to do that it's just tricky to again figure out how to fund those organizations so I lean on like we haven't seen it yet.

At least they're talking about it and saying they're going to do it.

And again, even though they failed in North Las Vegas with the trees that didn't last, they're trying.

So we're trying to take steps to make that happen.
