North Korean defectors

Uh, it's hard for me to think about sometimes, but, uh, I'm glad to have on as my guest today Dan Chung, who is the executive director of Crossing Borders.

He has a new book out called A Hard Freedom: The Dreams and Trauma of North Korean Refugees.

Dan, welcome to the program.

Thanks for having me, Eric.

Uh, I, you know, have interviewed, uh, Yeomi Park, and th- the stories of what people go through in North Korea, it's very hard for me to process, uh, the, the Satanic evil, uh, in that country.

How do you find yourself ministering to people who have had the fortune of escaping North Korea?

Um, my best friend from college, Mike Kim, uh, took a short-term missions trip right after college in 2001 to northeast China, where he met a North Korean refugee, several North Korean refugees.

He came back, and he told me their horrific tales, and I just couldn't sleep after that.

Thanks for having me.

Now, Dan is the co-founder and executive director of Crossing Borders, and that's a Christian nonprofit helping North Korean refugees and their children, and he's written a book, a book that you really need to get.

It's called A Hard Freedom: The Dreams and Trauma of North Korean Refugees, and it tells the stories of these people.

Wow.

Yeah.

Whoa.

I had no idea.

And so these 35 million men- Need to find a wife, and there are these women, uh, 70% historically of all North Korean refugees have been women.

We appreciate your support.
