North Gwinnett High School

What she said.

Here's Eric Godfree, North Gwinnett, getting ready for Football Fridays.

[upbeat music]

Hey, Coach Godfrey, thanks for joining us on the podcast.

But they were receivers, and we kind of dominated the whole thing.

So it was really, it was a lot of fun from that point, you know.

But then seeing them grow, just, you know, maturely, you know, physically, uh, mentally, just seeing all of them grow so much from that point to where they are right now, they, they really do have a, a really cool bond and, uh, you know, a team first mentality, and loving North Gwinnett.

And, and that really, I, and I, and I believe that obviously helps our play, and it shows in our play how much they har- they play hard for each other.

Oh

... who's winning, Josh's North Gwinnett state championship team or Caleb's Mill Creek champion team?

Who is stopping me?

Who's spanking them boys? [laughs]

They have Archer this week.

North Gwinnett, a big win.

They stay to 5-0.

Newton with a win.

So he is from the crib.

Went to North Gwinnett, the crib.

He is an Iowa product as far as collegiate goes.

He went undrafted in 2022.

I am super surprised of the score from our Football Friday in Georgia game of the week.

North Gwinnett beat Mill Creek 45 to 13.

I, very surprised.

Well-

It's kind of like looking in a mirror.

Mm-hmm.

Where North Gwinnett is now, senior laden, they played for Coach Godfrey for a couple years, and so they know the system-

Yeah

Season premiere of Football Fridays in Georgia over the air on GPB.

It is North Gwinnett at Mill Creek in Hushtown on Friday night, so we catch up with Josh.

I caught up with him from, uh, my studio location, so you'll see a bunch of soccer scarves in the background-

[laughs]

Thank you.

And batting third, we kind of catch up with Football Fridays in Georgia with our new season premiere.

Over the air, we're gonna be in Hoschton, and it's gonna be North Gwinnett and Mill Creek.

And so we decided to catch up with the home coach and find out what the latest is with Josh Lovelady with a very, very young team here in 2026.
