North Carolina Zoo

Whatever.

Anyway, um, so I'm not gonna do the full list, but I was excited to see friends of the pod, Akron Zoo, ABQ BioPark, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium, Lehigh Valley Zoo, The National Aviary in Pittsburgh, North Carolina Zoo, Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo, and ZooAmerica in Hershey, uh, all received accreditation for the next five years.

It's, it's lovely to see your friends succeed, even when your friends are zoos.

Um, and it's also worth noting that the Oregon Zoo, uh, who actually now is a friend of the pod, you just haven't heard that episode yet, uh, also gained accreditation.

And wildlife officials haven't yet captured Dolly, the Asheville bear linked to nine home break-ins, including one that injured a woman.

Officials reversed a decision to kill her after a viral campaign and petition, and arranged temporary placement at the North Carolina Zoo while seeking a permanent home.

The bear is avoiding traps and has been seen with a cub.

Biologists will decide whether the cub can live independently or needs rehabilitation.

We can go to...

Have you been to the North Carolina Zoo?

Uh, yes.

It's a lot of walking.

Boo-coo walking.

It's, like, more walking than Washington, DC.

Uh, m- I lo- I love the fact that, um, my kids' school goes to the North Carolina Zoo.

And you don't have to.

All right, mark your calendar.

The North Carolina Zoo's biggest new attraction has an opening date.

The Asia Exhibit welcomes visitors March 1st.

We're talking 50 new species across 12 acres, from tigers to Komodo dragons to exotic birds.

And I couldn't resist.

So I ended up switching programs and I studied under Beth Folta, who's with the North Carolina Zoo now.

and switched my focus to interp and was one of her first grad students.

So I finally learned like what is interpretation during that time and it just kind of clicked and stuck forever.

She contacted wildlife officials, a sanctuary, and state senator Julie Mayfield.

The North Carolina Zoo will temporarily house Dolly if she's safely captured, though officials say habituated bears are hard to relocate.

Fergiuli is now seeking bear-resistant trash cans distributed throughout Buncombe County, along with formation of a city-county safety committee.

Buncombe generates 38% of statewide bear calls.
