North Carolina Tar Heels Women's Volleyball

48 of 49, uh, 45 of 48 first place votes.

Virginia second, Louisville third, followed by Miami, North Carolina, Clemson, Florida State, NC State, Virginia Tech, and SMU at 10.

The rest of the league, Syracuse, Pitt, Stanford, Wake Forest, California, Notre Dame, Boston College, and Georgia Tech.

We'll take a quick break.

On, uh, the R&B Roofing and Remodeling Cardinal Insider.

The University of Louisville volleyball team is back at it again this week as well, and a little Tobacco Road coming to town.

6-0 in the ACC, North Carolina on Sunday.

4-2 in the ACC, Duke on Friday.

Tech is finishing up a four-match road trip.

Last weekend they had gone to, uh, Duke and North Carolina.

We didn't really talk about them.

They had won the Duke match, but they lost to 25th ranked North Carolina in five sets.

[lip smack] And then this weekend they had the Friday game postponed in Jacksonville, largely because of the hurricane, and they went to the Hurricanes, and they played today against Miami.

They lost as well in five sets.

Georgia Tech starts conference play 2-0.

North Carolina wins two on the road.

And Stanford, the preseason favorites, just went 0-2 to open ACC play.

So what actually matters after week one? Which teams are trending up? Which teams have questions to answer, and what should we be watching this weekend? Let's get into it.

Uh, they go to Duke on Friday.

I will be on the call for that one, at 6:30, first serve on ACC Digital Network.

Um, and then Sunday, they go to a ranked North Carolina squad.

Speaking of North Carolina, the Tar Heels are 2-0, a gritty 2-0 to start ACC play.

And, yeah, so they are off to a 2-0 ACC start.

They are heading out this next weekend to play the North Carolina, play Duke and North Carolina Friday and Sunday.

They'll be, they also have another road, so they get two straight road weeks because then they play in Florida, play Florida State and Miami.

And then they'll be back in town against Syracuse and Boston College.

I was going to look here real quick,

see if any of those games...

Yeah, so if next weekend's games, next weekend's matches, the ACC Network Extra, or they are on Sunday, 1-30, on the ACC Network against North Carolina.

So they'll be on the network next Sunday.

'Cause if I'm looking right now, first of all, before I look at the ACC standings, I'm looking at the, uh, at the poll.

Pittsburgh is number two, Louisville's number four, SMU is number five, and then, uh, Stanford 12, and North Carolina 24.

And, uh, and Georgia Tech others receiving votes, and there could be others.

Uh, I, you know, I, I, I saw somebody, maybe it was on your game, one of the game, one of the volleyball matches I was watching this weekend, said, you know, very top-heavy.

Oh.

That's where I p- well, that's where I put him this year because, uh, they beat North Carolina, who is ranked.

Uh, swept them in a, in a match played out in New York City on some stage, in some theater hall out there.

Oh, okay.

But then they have Stanford.

Yep.

And then, then it dips a little bit, okay? North Carolina might be hanging on the top 25.

Oh, yep, 24th.

They look like a team that is out there having fun, working towards a championship, and it just, it reminded me of playing myself and what it felt like to be on the court.

I kind of got that same feeling from North Carolina-

Agreed

... watching them.

Part of the four-watch box that you'll be checking out tonight, Bogues, is Nebraska for sure, but LSU, Ole Miss.

I want to get your thoughts on that and then a reaction before we get you out to Nebraska-North Carolina volleyball.

Yeah, I mean, I'm excited to keep an eye on that game for the Nebraska games.

I try to keep the Huskers full screen, though I will admit last week against Bowling Green, didn't really need that.

Of course, this week in Nebraska has got a couple of matchups here tonight.

Talk about with North Carolina.

What do you expect to see from the Tar Heels going up against the Huskers tonight?

Grainger, for the ones who get it done.

North Carolina is very good.

And they see, I think they were picked to finish fifth in the league behind the, the, the traditional powers of the last couple of years of the Louisville pits, SMU and Stanford.
