I will put management on notice from now, like they say in the United States Congress, I'm gonna reclaim my time.

[laughs] So let me welcome all of you around the Turks and Caicos islands, whether you're over there in Salt Cay, uh, the nation's capital, Grand Turk, down in South Caicos, over in, uh, North Caicos, Parrot Cay, Pine Cay, Providenciales, West Caicos, and Ambergris Cays, all making up the beautiful by nature Turks and Caicos.

Today, I'm continuing the series From Whence We Came.

We are celebrating 50 years since the introduction of ministerial system.

I, I, I, I was-- I tell you one thing that surprised me being the to- top vote earner, um, because whilst I am from South Caicos, we have a very small voting pool, and South Caicos was the island that perhaps treated me the worst politically in terms of numbers.

Um, but Grand Turk supported me.

Um, Provo came across, but North Caicos, if there was one island that consistently supported me solid, was North Caicos.

Interesting.

Two vehicles were destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning on South School Lane in Grand Turk.

The Turks and Caicos Islands Fire and Rescue Service says the deputy chief fire officer was notified by the 911 emergency communication center at about 5:33 AM.

When firefighters arrived around five minutes later, both vehicles were fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters initially used portable fire extinguishers to tackle the fires.

But at the end of the story, because we are reforming straight through the country, a fire station is on the way also planned for Rigby, North Caicos.

Speaker, Bringing our ministry to the people, if I get to my ministerial statement, great, but if not, we touched on it in the throne speech, so I feel that the door was open enough for me to say that as the Ministry of Home Affairs, we are working on phase two of local government.

And over the last few weeks, I've been working in the other islands.

So just like I work here in Grand Turk and in Provo, I was working in South Caicos, working in Middle Caicos, working in North Caicos, and I'll head down to Salt Key.

where we are actually taking the Ministry of Home Affairs to the communities to provide them information updates on their products and applications.

King Charles III praised the Turks and Caicos Islands for its democratic progress, strong sense of community, and recent reduction in violent crime as the country marked its first observance of Constitution Day on August 31st, 2026.

In a message to Governor of the TCI, Her Excellency Delaney Daniel Selvaratnam, the King said that he was particularly pleased by the improvement in public safety while also highlighting the development of the island's democratic institutions over the past 50 years.

In that statement, His Majesty also extended congratulations to Premier Honourable Charles Washington Mizik and the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands on the historic occasion.

And now the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force Marine Branch intercepted an overcrowded vessel carrying 207 undocumented migrants during the early hours of this morning, Monday, September 7th.

According to police, the vessel was detected during ongoing maritime border operations and was safely intercepted by Marine Branch officers.

All 207 individuals on board were brought ashore without incident and are being processed by the relevant authorities.

Acting Commissioner of Police Kendall Grant said the interception underscores the dangers associated with irregular maritime migration, particularly for vulnerable individuals, including children.

Approved applicants are being encouraged to check the reference number provided in their approval email against the published Batch 3 list to determine whether their check is ready for collection.

Check collection is taking place during normal office hours at the Treasury in Grand Turk and sub-Treasury offices in Providenciales, South Caicos and North Caicos.

The Ministry says the change to publishing reference numbers is intended to help applicants confirm their badge while maintaining the secure administration of the Cost of Living Relief Program.

Applicants are urged to have their reference number and valid identification readily available when visiting their respective collection location.
