MattyHOST
2:15
Welcome to episode 303 of Defining Duke, an Xbox podcast.
MattyHOST
2:20
Today I am joined as always by Commander Cog of the Normandy.
MattyHOST
2:25
Cog, how are we doing today, good sir?
Lord CognitoHOST
2:28
Not good.

2 HRS 5 MINS LATER

MattyHOST
127:47
I was like, we all have our Manon.
MattyHOST
127:50
where someone else might be like Korriban in KOTOR 1.
MattyHOST
127:54
Someone else, you know, might be the Normandy in Mass Effect.
MattyHOST
127:58
That might be the campsite in Origins.
JaredHOST
8:14
Now, I said in my post I posted yesterday, what if Project CD Red got the Mass Effect IP? I said that.
JaredHOST
8:33
You want to know something funny? I'm not the only one that said that because like I said yesterday, if Project CDR Red got the IP for Mass Effect and they built an open world game where you can fight on different planets be able to pilot a Normandy or the Normandy or whatever they was, whatever the, whatever the transport ship was in the game, if they would allow us to actually pilot it ourselves and actually be the pilot, that'd be amazing.
JaredHOST
9:27
Like I said, if they allowed that, it would be perfect.
JaredHOST
9:32
But the problem is I don't believe EA is going to sell the IP for Mass Effect.
JaredHOST
13:02
Imagine if we literally can literally fight while in open Rome, in free Rome, and go to different missions, and you can actually pilot the actual plane itself or the actual frigate itself.
JaredHOST
13:27
So imagine if you get the ability to actually be able to pilot the Normandy itself.
JaredHOST
13:34
That's what I'm getting at.
JaredHOST
13:35
Just imagine it.
Tim GettysHOST
27:42
Now it appears that the previously locked cosmetics have been removed from the game entirely following the announcement that EA is shutting down the studio.
Tim GettysHOST
27:49
The cosmetics included several N7 logos in patches and on weapons, as well as a charm of the Normandy.
Tim GettysHOST
27:55
Commander Shepard's ship in the original trilogy.
Tim GettysHOST
27:57
At some point after the news of BioWare's closure, these items were removed from Battlefield 6's in-game store with no explanation.
TJ JohnsonHOST
6:14
I can't say that.
TJ JohnsonHOST
6:15
But what I can say is it gave me this idea of of consequences and decision making and responsibilities and not that you know life didn't teach me that as well but i guess my point in saying all that is it was something i got to live and experience consequences and choices and repercussions in real time um Growing up with these characters, you know, Garrus and Tali vas Normandy, you know, at the end of it, Tali vas Zora, then, you know, Normandy and, you know, our Krogan's Leona, to someone which is the Asari.
TJ JohnsonHOST
6:52
It was just, it was so many things.
TJ JohnsonHOST
6:55
I think Mass Effect was kind of my Star Wars, if you will.

22 MINS LATER

TJ JohnsonHOST
28:42
I think my favorite moment was planning the suicide run in Mass Effect 2.
TJ JohnsonHOST
28:49
Planning that and sweating over who was going to do what and at what place he was going to put this person and da da da da da.
TJ JohnsonHOST
28:57
and then making sure that I had every loyalty mission done, every upgrade I could have done to the Normandy SR2 was done, and still just wanted to make sure that it was really up to me, because I had done everything else preparation-wise that I could to ensure that we were going to make it out of this mission alive.
TJ JohnsonHOST
29:15
But just knowing the pressure that I put on myself to make sure that during my first playthrough, I wanted everybody to live.
TJ JohnsonGUEST
6:22
And not that life didn't teach me that as well, but I guess my point in saying all that is it was something I got to live and experience consequences and choices and repercussions in real time.
TJ JohnsonGUEST
6:36
Growing up with these characters, you know, Garrus and Tali vas Normandy, you know, as at the end of it, Tali vas Zora and, you know, Normandy and, you know, our Krogan's Leona, to someone which is the Asari.
TJ JohnsonGUEST
6:51
It was just, it was so many things.
TJ JohnsonGUEST
6:54
I think Mass Effect was kind of my Star Wars, if you will.

22 MINS LATER

TJ JohnsonGUEST
28:38
As far as the actual game itself, I think my favorite moment was planning the suicide run in Mass Effect 2.
TJ JohnsonGUEST
28:47
Planning that and sweating over who was going to do what and at what place he was going to put this person and da-da-da-da-da.
TJ JohnsonGUEST

and then making sure that I had every loyalty mission done, every upgrade I could have done to the Normandy SR2 was done, and still just wanted to make sure that it was really up to me, because I had done everything else preparation-wise that I could to ensure that we were going to make it out of this mission alive.
TJ JohnsonGUEST

But just knowing the pressure that I put on myself to make sure that during my first playthrough, I wanted everybody to live.
Greg MillerHOST
19:54
And then the next one is the mom shrunk down to like grandma size, like, you know, and then all the kids around her being like, oh, my God.
Greg MillerHOST
20:00
you know what I mean of like the inspiration these games gave not only to us like yesterday we talked so much about how much this meant to us you wrote in with personal stories about how much it meant to you taught you saved you did all these different things but then the people who are making video games because they saw video games through the fucking Normandy's eyes and were like I can do that yeah I mean what's exhausting about this is just also
Max ScovilleGUEST
20:21
like EA just shut them down.
Max ScovilleGUEST
20:24
Like, they're just, you know...

16 MINS LATER

Greg MillerHOST
36:02
I'll never be able to do it.
Greg MillerHOST
36:03
Induction port.
Greg MillerHOST
36:05
And the rest of the Normandy's crew.
Greg MillerHOST
36:07
Heck, even Marauder Shields.
Joseph MoranHOST
62:27
Maybe even number one.
Kyle StevensonHOST
62:28
Also, just shout out to the Normandy in general.
Kyle StevensonHOST
62:30
One of the coolest... vehicles in all of games history
TeaganPANELIST
62:39
cowboy danger d writes question for the podcast can we safely say that ea fumbled bioware or are there more issues at play here i think it kind of already
Greg MillerHOST
30:50
They gave me amazing characters and experiences for years.
Greg MillerHOST
30:53
I've played Mass Effect so many times that the Normandy and its crew feel like coming home every time I play it again.
Greg MillerADVERTISER
30:59
Are

NickHOST
79:04

NickHOST
79:05

NickHOST
79:10
Normandy's straight in there.
NickHOST
79:12
Boom.
NickHOST
79:13
