Norman Osborn

He wasn't, he wasn't in a mil-

Osborn was gonna lose his company.

He had no choice.

If he didn't kill the board, everything he worked for for 40 years was being sold, and they said, "It's unanimous.

but it wasn't a military action.

The story of s- of Norman Osborn in Spider-Man one is that Norman had led the company to success and he says, "Our profits are up.

It's never been better.

But the problem is without any satire involved, like, He's just a guy with a gun at the end, you know? Yeah.

Or even, like, to once again go back to Spider-Man, you know, like Norman Osborn.

Right.

At the beginning, you're like, oh, this guy's like a douchebag.

Yeah.

Well, you see, because originally Mark Waid wanted the villains to be Norman Osborn and Lex Luthor.

Ah, okay.

That makes sense.

I would have liked to have seen Lex and Norman teaming up a little bit more, but only because I want to make more Mississippi burning and a time to kill gags.

Though

I mentioned that when it was first announced that they were going to be enemies, and I realized that Kevin Spacey and Chris Cooper were both in A Time to Kill, and someone's just like, you're really counting Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn? I'm like, he played the character.

Yeah, it counts.

I'm trying to remember the timeframe, but amazing fantasy 15 came out and it was less than six months later, just based on the sales that Spider-Man got his own titles kicked off with Mason Spider-Man number one.

So this weaves in a lot of elements that we would see later on, including Norman Osborn and Osborn Industries, which was not obviously a part of the earliest of Spider-Man.

But it does grab a lot of the early breaks.

So anyway, I've been running my gob for five whole minutes.

It wasn't just a retread.

Um, so I liked that.

Um, I thought it definitely was interesting here that we had the connection between the Spider Venom and Norman Osborn, which was not something that I've really seen anywhere else.

But I liked the juxtaposition, which reminded me heavily of the juxtaposition in the first Tobey Maguire Spider-Man.

And then Mutant Zero is, it happens during Dark Reign, and they essentially kind of get her in a spot where they have her working with a doctor to try to work through all of the dissociative stuff to try to kind of get her into a stable position.

But the cost of her getting this help is her being a secret bodyguard and weapon for Norman Osborn and all of his friends.

And so...

Very interesting time.
