Uh, number five, Nolan Teasley makes a trade deadline deal to acquire an edge rusher or running back.

I mean, look, if they start out well, the fact that they've already gotten Van Noy, they just brought in Jihad Ward, Harrison Smith's back, like they are an all-in team on this season, so I could see it.

They're not a team that's like, oh well, you know.

And going back to the whole conspiracy thing where Kevin O'Connell basically laid out, oh, he's got the deltoid sprain.

And then Teasley was just like, no, he's fine because Teasley is trying to trade JJ.

So, of course, Kevin O'Connell is saying that he has injuries so that it could be a bloodless coup for quarterback two.

That rhymes.

But Teasley's like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

So I feel like there's a little bit of consternation there.

And Pellicero, any trade of the Vikings quarterback who lost his starting job to Kyler Murray in August would have been difficult for many reasons, including the list of injuries that have limited McCarthy to 10 games over his first two NFL seasons, preventing him from building momentum on some promising moments.

The Vikings also had no attention, especially one who's well-liked in the locker room and has gone 6-4, but really 7-3 as a starter.

And they are good enough from top to bottom to be there in that conversation.

So I would very much expect that the Vikings, Nolan Teasley, that that's already been a discussion inside their building of when can we Sign him to an extension.

When is he going to have that discussion? And maybe it ends up coming sooner than later because maybe in Jefferson's mind, this is just where he wants to be for the rest of his career.

But I can't say I can't put myself in his head or in his shoes.

Certainly, Kyler Murray can help the overall run numbers.

My sources tell me that they heard Shaq complaining about the fact that we literally had nobody other than Blake Brando at center.

Nolan Teasley watched the show and said, oh, crap, we literally don't have anybody else for center, so let's get two.

Yeah, the thing is, Nick Samak has never played a snap.

Wow.

This has seriously massive implications for the Minnesota Vikings after Baker Mayfield's huge contract extension now applies a ton of pressure on Kyler Murray to exceed expectations and even more pressure on GM Nolan Teasley to lock Murray down long term after this season.

We're going to break it down all that in this episode of Vikings Digest.

And Kyler Murray is in for a very big season, so much so that he's at a 24% chance to hit 4,000 plus passing yards on Kalshi this year.

And I know two quarterbacks that were looking at that just absolutely smiling was C.J. Stroud and Kyler Murray.

Now it's a matter of, okay, you have to go and back that up on the field now to make those grins worth it so that you can absolutely get that kind of money.

And where it leaves Houston Texans, they're in a little bit of a predicament, as well as now the Minnesota Vikings, as this is going to put a lot of pressure on GM Nolan Teasley to get a deal done.

as well as Kyler Murray to really perform this season to show that he can be worth that money again because he got that big contract with Arizona a couple years ago where he's getting paid $30 million a year.

And now he has a chance to go and get an even bigger payday if he has a great season like Sam Darnold had two years ago in Minnesota.

But this may be the most that Kyler Murray has ever been asked to do.

And when I asked Nolan Teasley his biggest takeaway from watching Kyler in camp, he said... at the line of scrimmage that they were very impressed for how much he could take on and motions and formations and multiple calls.

And maybe you can explain some of that stuff to the listening audience here, because, you know, there are offenses that are a little more simple.

And then there are offenses that ask the quarterback to identify stuff at the line of scrimmage, see what he's supposed to see, make checks, changes.

But with hearing that him and K- Brian Flores were pushing so hard to try and get this deal done and to bring Harry back, goes to show that Kevin O'Connell was wanting Harrison Smith back even more than he was leading on, and even Brian Flores as well, because in almost every single interview or press conference that these guys gave, until Harrison Smith signed yesterday, and he's probably gonna have even more questions brought up as the kind of press conferences start getting going this week and things like that.

But ever since that kind of happened, ever since last season ended, every single press conference and every single interview for Brian Flores or Kevin O'Connell or even Nolan Teasley for that matter, and Rob Rosinski, Harrison Smith was brought up at least once almost every single time.

And for good reason, obviously, but every single time Minnesota was playing their cards close to the chest, obviously, but they were very, uh, uh, upfront and blunt about wanting Harrison Smith back, missing his presence in the building, but they never discreetly said that they were pushing to get him back, because if they did, a lot of teams probably would have gone out there and said, "Hey, let's try and take Harrison Smith off the market." But I also do not think Harrison Smith would have gone with any other team, as he is a lifelong Viking and as well as one of the things that's circulating online right now.

There's an old clip from a video that was, uh, showing kind of like his life behind the scenes and his training regimen and the things that he does to keep his body in shape, and a lot of people are looking at that saying, "This is why we're confident that he's gonna be fine." And when I saw that video a couple years ago, that gave me the confidence that Harrison Smith is gonna play absolutely until the wheels fall off and until he is satisfied with where he's at in his playing career, and I think that he knows that he has a little bit of unfinished business left, as if the Vikings were to pull off a miracle and win the Super Bowl this year, it does not give a single doubt in my mind that Harrison Smith will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
