Noble false widow

Turning now to a certain creepy crawly that could be making itself more at home in your house as the temperature drops.

The National Poisons Information Center is warning that false widow encounters may increase as the weather gets colder.

For more on this, I'm joined by Michel Dougan, principal investigator of the Venoms Systems Lab at the University of Galway.

Michel, good morning.

Uh, false widow spiders, what are they like and should we be worried about them?

Good morning.

So first of all, should we be worried about them? Not too much, and I'll explain why actually in a minute, uh, although it's good to at least know about them.

As to how they look, they're actually kind of unspectacular, surprisingly so.
