Never seen.

It's supposed to be one of the best movies of the year.

I think

that's a band called Nirvana.

I think they were a comedy duo called Nirvana the band.

Oh, that's funny.

But to have him be like, "I just saw your Matt Johnson interview.

I love Nirvana the band," like, he-

Um, he's not an actor, but Jorgos I'd really love to work with.

What have y'all been watching? Do you watch these same shows? Are you digging them? Oh, this is an older show, but it's finally getting its, its voice in America here thanks to a movie, uh, that I reviewed a few years, a few months back.

Uh, Nirvana the Band: The Show, which spun off of a web series, got two seasons on Vice.

I guess it was in America before, but it's primarily, like, a Canadian show.

But it was h- hard to watch.

I loved Nirvana the Band: The Movie even though I didn't fully know what the fuck was going on 'cause I never saw the show.

And I loved Tony.

And now Nirvana the Band: The Show is on Hulu.

It's two seasons.

I can't stress enough the very particular part of my brain that was being pleasured when I first discovered Matt Johnson and Jay McCarroll's Nirvana The Band The Show, this scrappy Canadian mockumentary TV series about two guys trying and repeatedly failing to book a gig at Toronto's Rivoli.

I found it years ago on SBS On Demand here in Australia, an excellent free streaming service, by the way, and tore through both seasons before realizing it wasn't actually my first encounter with these guys.

Years earlier, I'd watched Matt Johnson's debut feature, The Dirties, after Kevin Smith helped release it through his movie club.

I wanted to know why.

How Jay knows when a piece of music is actually working in a film, what nearly two decades of collaborating with matters taught him, and what film scores made him want to chase that feeling in the first place.

Oh, and of course, I had to ask him about season three of Nirvana the Band the Show.

One thing that's not acknowledged is the name Nirvana the Band.

If you're brand new to this, the movie does not explain...

And it's just a strange concept.

The name of their band is Nirvana the Band.

Does it need any further explanation of...

So there's a band called Nirvana, folks, with Kurt Cobain.

I mean, I'm sure I did say yeah.

I feel like there was a new show I started that I was going to talk about and I can't remember what it was.

Nirvana the Band the Show.

No, I haven't gotten to that yet.

Based on the amount of time I have at home currently, I basically get through the dropout shit and 90 Day Fiancé and then I have no time for anything else.

... um, despite him getting some momentum over the last few years.

He did Blackberry, but really the main, uh, piece that I want to kind of dive into here is that he's one half of the comedy series Nirvana: The Band: The Show.

Uh, and uh, I've only seen clips of that.

Uh, this definitely lends to the comedic tone of this movie though.
