Nina Gold

Because as we all know, there is a new James Bond movie that's going to start filming very soon actually, and that they are currently casting.

In fact, casting began in August, according to Nina Gold, who is the casting director.

So why don't we get into just talking what we know about the new James Bond movie, and then we can get into, like, what people are saying and maybe what we think is a good idea.

Exactly.

[laughs] But, uh, but we've seen, you know, hits from Denis Villeneuve as well too.

Steven Knight is perhaps the person who worries me the most in terms of, um, you know, this thing.

Uh, but the other person, the other main person that we know in terms of this important realm is the casting director, Nina Gold.

Truly, we're in great hands.

Yeah.

Or like, and when you get a tape through for like a London show or like a TV thing, you're like, oh my gosh, that's Nina Gold.

She's cast so much.

[laughs]

And back in the day, we...

What, what do we call it? Like, a th- like, if we were, were casting a Bond film, if it wasn't Nina Gold-

Oh, I remember that.

That was fun

Yeah, you know, we don't.

But yeah, but it's like because I'm not going to lie, like I have a friend who's in London right now visiting me from L.A. who was like, I'm going to reach out to like Nina Gold for a general.

I was like, good luck.

You know, like there is

Can you tell me a particular casting choice you've seen in a recent film or show that inspired you and maybe made you think, like, "Wow, that was a great call, and I'm impressed"?

I would say, and she got her flowers because she was one of the first nominees this year, um, for our first casting Oscar, but Nina Gold's work in Hamnet, to me-

Yeah

... um, was really impressive.

So I wanna know something you accomplished on a recent project that you know you'll always be able to look back on and say, "You know what? Real damn proud of what I did there."

Yeah.

I would say that, um, actually Nina Gold and I cast star- the next Star Wars that's coming out, Starfighter, and I would say that our work on the kid lead in that was really, I'm impressed with what we did.

'Cause it was, it's really, you know, it's a big movie, it's Ryan Gosling, everything sort of weighing on, you know, all the choices you make in that movie.

So would you know a Bond story then? Do you know about Bond?

Yeah, well, I'm hoping that the second they've announced it, Nina Gold, who's been casting it, I was like, can you just announce it and then come straight to the podcast? Because she's an amazing casting director.

She casts like sort of everything.

And she's such an interesting chat.
