I don't know about the Nimbin football team, but I've spent a lot of time in Nimbin, and at the bowling club, once a month, they have an open day where people come from all around for their jam sandwiches with very special butter, and they come for miles and miles for that day.

Well, that's sounding like it might replace the oranges at half-time, Damien.

And she was just out there experiencing all that.

Sedona had to offer under this promise of spiritual awakening like I suppose if you're in Australia the best comparison I've kind of realized is Sedona is maybe the the Byron Bay of America or the Nimbin you know where everyone's a bit spiritual it's a bit hippie it's a bit free and yeah um sorry back to the story this is now where it gets a bit dark again and So for a few years after meeting Dean and moving to America, seven years ago, it seemed that Katie was happy and there was a sense of stability and she was building a life that she seemed content with.

But then in mid 2023, as her marriage to Dean was starting to fizzle out or come to an end for whatever reasons.

Katie, you know, who is still around Sedona going to the various, I don't want to say retreats or rituals or, you know, the various new age things that are happening there.

That's a Star Wars place, and those are Star Wars people.

But I feel like, uh, I'm, I'm hearkening back to my time living in Australia, and I feel like, you know, if they were, if they were raised on a commune, they might be from Nimbin.

Oh, that's even more Star Wars.

Ni- and for our international listeners, Nimbin is, uh, it's [laughs] it's very well, well-renowned and famous.

So it's, uh, yeah, it's a very infamous town in, in New South Wales, so just outside of Byron Bay.

So ...

In the early hours of August the 5th, 42-year-old Stephanie Cordery was captured on CCTV leaving temporary accommodation with a suitcase in Ballina in the Byron Bay region.

Road cameras reportedly traced her white Hyundai as she traveled through Lismore and towards Nimbin, but she vanished, never seen again.

Later that day, her on-again, off-again partner contacted her family.

Her car had been found in the driveway of his family's remote property near Mount Nardi, but Stephanie was nowhere to be seen.

She kind of exited the building.

She was seen on this grainy black and white CCTV footage standing at the back of her car, and she had a suitcase in her possession.

She was then captured on road cameras going through the town of Lismore, and then the town of Nimbin, which is kind of inland of Byron Bay, which is a, you know, a, a holiday town a lot of our listeners will probably be familiar with.

And then her trail goes cold for a few hours, and then at about 12:30 that same day, her on-off lover, Shilo Pike, called her sister, Monique, and said, "I've found Stephanie's car.

So, Bali.

There's a text that's come through here on 3483 recommending Nimbin.

Now, Nimbin, you drive down the street and people just knock on your window and off you get the weed.

Wow.

He gets fired up as he talks about this part of the story.

People run away after a fight, and then they stay away over the weekend with some mates, so down in Byron Bay or up in Nimbin, and then they'll come back.

And I kept saying, "Well, she doesn't have any mates.

She doesn't know anyone.

I, I didn't know where to go.

I, I, I, I needed some help, and then I was saying to my sister and Jens, "Fuck, these guys think we had a fight and Simi ran away.

She's in Byron Bay or in Nimbin".
