Nikki Glaspie

The festival runs from September 22nd through the 26th, with highlights including tributes to Miles Davis and John Coltrane, a Latin jazz performance by Tito Puente Jr. and Nestor Torres, and a grand finale featuring Sheila E., Mono Neon, Carl Denson, Charlie Hunter, and many leading voices from the Indianapolis jazz scene.

Coming up, I'll share my conversations with percussionist Sheila E. and drummer Nikki Glaspie of the Nth Power, best known for her work with Beyoncé, Chaka Khan, Maceo Parker, and Dumbstafunk.

Honestly, when I got the call, I screamed like a little girl.

But first, let's listen back to my 2023 conversation with Sheila E. She'll be headlining this year's Indie Jazz Fest on September 26th at Opti Park.

Just be ready to dance, get up and participate in a Sheila E concert because my band is incredible and they're going to take you to a place you've never been before.

That was Sheila E. She'll be performing at Indie Jazz Fest on September 26th at Opti Park in the Broad Ripple neighborhood of Indianapolis.

Up next, I'll speak with drummer Nikki Glaspie.

She grew up playing gospel music in church and went on to tour the world with Beyonce's all-female band.
