really goes back into shamanism.

So some of the earliest saunas here in Finland, and I guess in the world, they were so-called ground saunas so these were like holes that were dug into the ground and then they were covered with animal furs and we would just make it like a sweat tent basically and sauna is really fascinating in that sense when we go back in time here in Finland they are very closely linked to different life events so all up all the way up to the 1950s women here, they gave birth in the sauna, especially in rural areas where they were in hospitals.

They would give birth in the saunas.

Yeah, you start your life in the sauna.
