Nightshade

It's actually funny you said that.

We had Nightshade on here about a month ago, and she literally, it was like 45 minutes into the interview she goes, "Oh, look what I have here."

[laughs]

So obviously your tag team champion partner.

Mm-hmm.

But, but people like her are such a joy and, um, I'm, I'm glad that I can carry a little piece of her with me.

Is going back to Toke- we've seen Tokyo Joshi where they're working with everybody, and it seems like a lot of the Joshi companies really o- again, obviously you teamed with Nightshade.

We're gonna get into that in a moment.

We just did a match in Cork and Hall a few months ago, and I was like, I need to know about this mystery ice cream machine.

Now, for those of you who have not seen our Nightshade interview, supposedly there's this mystery ice cream machine that is backstage in Cork and Hall.

It's a member of the nightshade family.

And as a homeopath, what I know about the nightshade family and also historically in old alchemical books, that family is really good for nightmares and night terrors.

The woman that you must be talking about is Nightshade.

And, and if you look at tomatoes, because we hit tomatoes right off the top, if you take that one, they belong to the family of Solanaceae, which in turn are nightshades.

Yeah.

And nightshades are related to so many different plants.

... is newer to us.

These red Solanaceae, right, our tomatoes, our potatoes, not so red, uh, our peppers, these tasty, tasty foods that are at the center of a lot of cuisine.

So it wasn't until the 16th century, right, the 1500s, that the, the traders brought to India, to China-

Yeah, humans love nicotine, a little too much.

And we have for a long time.

So if you are unfamiliar, nicotine is an alkaloid that is found primarily in plants of the nightshade family, so Solanaceae, which I've been talking about.

Mm-hmm.

He demonstrated that you don't need transatlantic voyages to explain this anomaly.

The biological reality is that plants belonging to the Solanaceae family, the nightshade family, which includes belladonna and mandrake, were entirely native to ancient Egypt and were heavily used in their medicines.

So they already had these plants.

Yes.

They'll eat potato plants too, by the way.

They're both in the Solanaceae family.

Meanwhile, like trying to find those things are just brutal out there and lots of us have gardens and really like our tomatoes.

Hey, Andrea has a trick.

Angel's Trumpet is its close botanical cousin, though.

Same family, the Nightshade family.

And both of them are loaded with the very same chemistry, the same tropane alkaloids, scopolamine included.

So, pharmacologically, they do the same job.
