NedHOST

in 60 seconds.
NedHOST
34:58
You were on the right lines after Nigel Pearson.
NedHOST
35:01
It was Hayden Mullins.
Des TaylorGUEST
36:01
In recent times, Alex Scott, because I went all in for Alex Scott from day one, from the age of 17.
Des TaylorGUEST
36:11
And when I saw him playing wingback under Nigel Pearson from Bristol City, I was delighted because in no disrespect to Nigel Pearson, it just devalued the player.
Des TaylorGUEST
36:22
Antoine Semenya obviously was fantastic.
Des TaylorGUEST
36:26
And then if we go back, when I look at the likes of Lewis Cook, what an unbelievable professional.
ChrisHOST
25:15
Sure, well, yes, but only put me in the lead for a while because coming up, Doncaster Rovers.
ChrisHOST
25:25
Three points to you, sir, because... you've said 19th they are sat in 19th I mean in fairness I went 17th so I wasn't a million miles away but well done on your three points I mean they are they are struggling and they are perennial strugglers though I mean I can remember when you know we got promoted under Nigel Pearson, I think Doncaster Rovers was the last game.
ChrisHOST
25:55
And I think everybody had scored except Kasper Smeichel.
ChrisHOST
25:58
And we got a penalty and we were shouting for Kasper to take it.

29 MINS LATER

ChrisHOST
54:45
And if Savage is managing on the last game of the season, I'll be...
ChrisHOST
54:51
Amazed.
ChrisHOST
54:54
Again, Watford, they got Nigel Pearson, the sector manager brought Nigel Pearson in all those years ago.
ChrisHOST
55:02
He got them out the bottom three, they sacked him and then brought around the area and he got them relegated.
TaylorGUEST
17:02
I'm not sure, really.
ChrisHOST
17:04
juries out on that one then um look yeah we said at the start and everybody was telling us um with Russell Martin how stubborn he is and look we know we've had stubborn managers going back to Nigel Pearson um he hasn't come much more stubborn than him but when you um look at this you know he's changed from what he started into the 4141 now he's changed into this again um do you think he you know he is looking at this and going yeah this is now i've made that change and i'm not going to go back to how it was because this this let's be honest with you has been working better and we've looked better haven't we with this formation
TaylorGUEST
17:50
We have looked better.
TaylorGUEST
17:51
We've looked a lot better.
ReecePANELIST

You know, the players like this, this is what makes a small club like these clubs are, successful because they have to think differently they have to be more due diligent in their planning and that just showed the way that the way that uh we went wrong you know we turned off our um we turned off our um you know we went went for the big prima donnas um tried to try to spend more than what we could afford and we end up in the mess that we're in now so uh yeah shocking absolutely shocking
TomHOST
34:18
yeah it came across as our transfer business all due respect and i hope i'm using the right words but it is my opinion came across we started getting a bit casual i think we had a really good process under steve walsh and nigel pearson going back to the mid 2010s and then we focused more on player attitude and you know someone we could train into something to be better than what they were that's why we picked up rio mara so cheap because they thought he'd be a show pony you probably would never turn up to training and never get picked we got something out of him right um and like you say we did used to be that club that was good with some reason we seem to get very lax in the last five years in particular There's very few players, apart from maybe Abdul Fattahou, Hermansen maybe, that you could really say we've bought and sold on in a productive way here.
TomHOST
34:56
So 74.6 million, yeah, lost.
TomHOST
34:59
I mean, Rhys, is it really that simple for how to get this club back on track? And do you see the current ownership being able to do that? I mean, it's difficult, isn't it? Because there seems to be a track record now the past five years of just some pretty poor decisions, especially in regard to just general direction of the football club, be it coaching, be it staffing, be it...
KillerHOST
32:40
We didn't have a backbone of players that played in the Premier League.
KillerHOST
32:43
But we came down, we got Nigel Pearson in, and let's be honest, we absolutely marched this league.
KillerHOST
32:49
We didn't really break sweat.
KillerHOST
32:51
And the club really found that the season that we had in the third tier was great in terms of getting the club back on an even footing.
TimHOST
33:56
I don't know how you could, just to put it very simply, we've just taken an amazing risk we just didn't need to take in this league.
TimHOST
34:02
But just to challenge your thinking on what you said about the players earlier, Killer, because I'm not there with you yet on that.
TimHOST
34:09
You mentioned Nigel Pearson.
TimHOST
34:10
Is it great? Let's say we had the Nigel Pearson of that era was suddenly installed as the manager today.
Mike GrahamHOST

Let me just catch up with some of these.
Mike GrahamHOST
52:55
Don't forget Nigel Pearson was at Leicester, came to Hull, went back and got promotion to the Premier

JJ DevaneyHOST
52:13
I'm going to try and change this.
Owynn Palmer-AtkinHOST
28:27
form to begin
Matty FryattGUEST
28:28
with so the points I think Nigel Pearson used to refer to two points sort of game on average what it equates to come the end of the season that work from and obviously four and five that'd be really good form and just sort of set it up nicely and then they'll be like say just over a quarter of the way through and really go on from there and put themselves in a good position start believing also in the managers things the fans warm to it a bit more and confidence does that so yeah I think it's a really good chance and something they should grasp and go, go on.
Matty FryattGUEST
29:09
It's our time now.
Matty FryattGUEST
29:10
Yes, we've started a little bit shaky, but we're heading in the right direction.
