That's the song These Days.

That was somewhere around 1964.

It made its way to Nico, who recorded it for her debut album in 1967 called Chelsea Girl.

Jackson didn't record his version or release his version until a few years later in 1973, uh, for his album called For Everyman.

Yeah.

And I like also Nico, if you know who she was.

She's the lead singer for Velvet Underground, and then she did her own thing.

Hell yeah.

On Media Lit, we recently did a Wes Anderson draft where he's got lots of great 60s rock, a lot of kinks.

We've got like Nico these days as a great needle drop.

Chris and I also just recorded a podcast on favorite musical moments in movies.

So we found ourselves in that time period for a lot of our picks.

And I personally had never heard that version before.

and absolutely fell in love with it.

And then in prepping for this pod, I mentioned Beck's Record Club earlier, and the first album that they covered for that project was The Velvet Underground in Nico.

So I've been going back to that album.

Today's program began with the

sounds of Nico and the fairest of the season.

This is the Listen Up program.

It happens on Wednesdays till the hour of four.

So it was kind of hard to find the little instrumental score in the film.

But instead, little pieces were created that are more like the air surrounding the characters or like little... weather reports rather than emotional like indicators you know so it's very minimal and quiet and then there are those there's the song spooky the cover by dusty springfield which is one of my favorite songs such a great song so that made it in that's the only licensed music in the film And then while creating the score and collaborating with Annika Henderson, she did the two I asked her to do these days, a cover of the song, Jackson Browne's song, but Nico's version is the definitive one for me.

And then she did one of Spooky as well, which we put at the front credits.

This is a very minimal film, and these are just three afternoons we spend with these people.

He told people all this stuff happened, but he was a fantasist, wasn't he? Oh, he's like his dad, don't he? The worst

I love Nico and Emma, I want Emma's head of wind.

Well, that scene, the whole Andy Warhol scene, it's just shoehorned in.

And Larry Fallon will later go on to do some of the arrangements both on on Astro Weeks for Ben Morrison.

Van Morrison, and he also does Nico's album, too.

And I think they're both very controversial arrangements, not well thought of.

But Larry was a very schooled musician.
