What's the level of concern with this new look offense?

It is a big concern, a- and it's a tale of two, uh, cities, if you want to look at it that way.

Because in the preseason, everyone was raving about Davis Webb a year ago when he called plays against then Arizona Cardinals, and it featured Evan Engram, his former Giant teammate.

So the idea was like, okay, well, what's the difference between the preseason and the regular season? There is a significant difference, and we actually saw that.

So you had Davis Webb coaching his first, I guess, regular season game against Spags, who is a well-known defensive coordinator in the league, and it actually showed.

And Bo Nix didn't look at cr- as crisp as we thought he would.

It has nothing to do with the ankle, but the chemistry wasn't there.

What do you make of this new look Kansas City team?

What did you see last night that gives you cause for concern on the Patriots' side with May and the three interceptions?

Well, I mean, it's just throwing the interceptions to begin with.

And listen, I mean, during training camp, Josh Allen, to start some of their practices, he threw four IMTs.

But that was no one really talked about it as much.

It wasn't national news.

Right.

As maybe some other quarterbacks.

I mean, can they tread water if it's, you know, four weeks, five weeks, six weeks? Can they trip more than tread water with Drew Locke?

How does th- this offense operate now with another dangerous speedster in Jaylen Waddle mixed in?

Well, it's all about a arms race, and a lot of teams now are running more 11 personnel than we've seen I guess even when I played.

So you'd wanna get your fast guys on the field.

You want to be able to put them out in the space.

And when you think about what Jaylen Waddle brings to this offense, that's another layer as far as being a vertical threat.

Bo took a couple of shots downfield, but not as many as the Broncos fans and even the coaching staff would've liked for them to take.

And Jalen Waddell was their target.

How do you anticipate the run game looking this season?

[laughs]

... we all stay here.

We don't get out.

So you have to be one of those guys that say, "I wanna get out." My environment and my situation is so desperate and dire, I have to get out.

Anyone who's asking you to stay in that mold, those, those individuals are not your friend.

Because your friend would want the best for you.

He would tell you, "Leave me.

Oh, yeah.

And that first thing I had to ask you was, Nick, does that happen in NFL? When it happens from a player's perspective, how do you take that, Nick?

From a player perspective, I mean, you're pretty pissed.

And what happens is there's a revenge factor that you have as a player.

You always want to get back at your former team.

And during this whole process, Jalen Brown said, look, all these narratives and people talking about me, what I'm not, what I can't be, you're only making me angrier in his words.

You're turning me into a beast.

And that's essentially what the Celtics have done with this situation.

You know, Nick, as a former player, how does it feel when a fact of the matter is it's in subtle ways people are saying you're not allowed to be intelligent, but yet you just need to be what you are, which is an athlete.

Yeah.

Puts it in his fridge, takes it out of the fridge two hours before, warms it up, gets the oven ready.

He sears it on, uh, grass-fed butter and, uh, you know, peppercorns foraged from the mountains somewhere.

And when it comes to vegetables, people don't put that love in.

Okay, great.

So, um, yeah, it was, uh...

I guess it, it gave us an insight into really what it's like working with somebody who's actually good at cooking food.

Like this is passion.

First of all, what's going through you mentally, and then how, once again, did you say, "Well, I'm not done"?

It's one of those days that, uh, you look forward to.

It's nervousness.

You are excited because things in your life could change.

You've been waiting for this moment all your life, and you're relying on someone else to once again select you.

And in my situation, obviously I wasn't selected because I was an undrafted player.

But there was a moment in the sixth round where I got a phone call and it was like, "Hey, listen, this is Cincinnati Bengals.

You loved the NFL, you loved the game, you loved everything it stood for, you loved your family, everything that came with it, and then next thing you know, knee surgery that late in life, in your career, it's gotta be tough.

But just what's the sense of, of kinda where this Bronco team is right now getting set to head into the postseason?

Well, the idea is that y- you have to win the games that are in front of you.

I mean, you can't pick and choose your opponents.

And, you know, luckily for the Broncos, they bolster one of the top defenses in the NFL.

And me, unlike a lot of people, I say, well, I give a lot of credit to Vance Joseph and the defense because for me, they're the main reason the Broncos are where they are.

Now, I know people have been down on Bo Nix, but we've seen a massive improvement with Bo Nix over the past couple of weeks, and that's all because Bo has decided to revert back to what he did at Auburn, what he did with the Oregon Ducks.

When the routes are not downfield, he's pulling the ball down.

But we, we'd just kinda love to know your take on that.

What were your biggest takeaways from Denver grinding out that road victory against backups of the Chiefs?

Well, first and foremost, let's start off with the most important thing.

They got the dub.

That- that's the most important thing.

Now, are there some things that they need to clean up? A- absolutely.

And obviously, as we progressed to this point in the season, there have been a lot of individuals here locally, but more importantly nationally, who they don't really believe i- in this team.

And I was one of those people, because when I- when I look at this team, I'm like, okay, well you're playing against the Kansas City Chiefs.

They got a lotta help from video review and the officials got it right, and then secondarily, the Rams can't stop anybody on special teams and just fired their coordinator.
