Um, is that how you saw that period of your life?

Yeah, it's, it's quite funny.

I, I, I did, I went straight into work, and I, even when I was still in, um, with the, the plaster cast on, I was down at work at 5:00 AM because I had nothing better to do.

So I was, I was at the office at 5:00 AM and, and just starting to do work.

And when I had to go back for another, uh, surgery, um, to readjust the, the plate, I went to work that day, went up to the hospital, had the surgery, woke back up a couple of hours later, went straight back to the office and, and kept working.

And that kind of consumed my life.

And then at, at that stage, I was still single, so that, that led into working hard.

[chuckles]

No, I mean,

they can't.

And, you know, sure, we've seen some water recede in some locations, but we take a look at what happened yesterday.

And just imagine another one to four inches of rain on top of that.

That was that was just catastrophic to see.

Unfortunately, I think those scenes could unfold again at some point in the day on Friday.

Now, the timing on this, we see downpours developing as early as midnight tonight and maybe even a touch before that, especially in Indiana.

Beyond the flooding issues and all the rain, are we talking severe weather? Are we talking

No,

I don't think many people are.

It's been a very stormy day, and we've been talking about this for a few days where we would have some complexes and clusters of storms come through.

Today, I think we were on the unlucky side of the card where we had one this morning and almost another one right after.

So that one this morning was just not able to completely wipe out the thunderstorm energy.

We had some storms last night north of here that kind of left a remnant boundary in place.

And when those other storms encountered that boundary this morning, they started to weaken.

Really hard.

You know what I mean?

Yeah, yeah.

I think it'll be a clear indicator of if they're really, really hungry this season is how we do in the NFC East.

Are we giving the Cowboys hell? Are we giving the Eagles hell? We got to just really bring it to them.

and then kind of take that and become more confident with the other teams on the road.

I liked how you were talking about last season and how those losses were just so disheartening.

I really found the one against the Vikings to be the most disheartening.

And his question was, who are some under the radar players that have a chance to flourish this upcoming season?

We caught up with Nick Dunn of Frank P. Matthews Nursery, which this year celebrates its 125th birthday.

When I was growing up, and particularly at the time when I s- joined my father, crab apples were one of the only two ornamental trees that we grew here on the nursery, and it was quite relevant because they were used, certainly back in the '70s and still today, used for pollinating apples in commercial orchards.

So we had a range of varieties or cultivars which were used and still are.

Different flowering times that overlapped, so they would always provide pollen for a variability in the flowering periods of apples.

So they were very well-matched.

Grandson of the original Frank Matthews, Nick has a particular soft spot for this ornamental tree, and with decades of growing experience under his belt, who better to ask for cultivar advice?

What I started to see was fascinating characteristics which you wouldn't see in, in apples particularly.

They're quite beauti- obviously apples are quite beautiful in blossom, but we all, all of a sudden my eyes were opened to the variability of the flower type, color, form, season, originThe beauty of them from single large white to densely double purples or whatever it was.
