Nick Barker

Now, I'm talking about Blackberry Smoke.

Now, I've heard the term on this radio station a number of times, um, artists we've interviewed, including, uh, Nick Barker, who said when he started off, he wanted to create that Southern kind of rock sound, and I'm talking Jason and the Scorchers, um, The Black Crowes.

Um-

Mm-hmm

On that, and I always used to say it's such a great Australian track you played at the grand finals of the various codes, but of course it wasn't because they didn't realise how good the music from the land of Oz was, or is.

Here's something from Nick Barker as well.

Things I've said, they never made much sense.

Except in my own defense.

And I don't think I'll last much longer in here.

So I'll take my chances I'll be dead a long time And I'm bound to wreck this bed I've made Forty-three in the shade But I'll drag my baggage lost it somewhere looking for cheap seduction led to my own destruction and all the friends I trusted they got rich or busted they got wise to these words that I never knew so I take my chances This bed I've made Burn my bridges Learn to travel islands And I'll spring the traps my enemies have laid So I take my chances, but I've been dead a long time And I'm bound to wreck this bed I've made I've burned my bridges, learned to travel highly But I've sprang the traps my enemies have laid

Yeah, from Nick Barker there, Land of Oz, an album he put out called Seasides, Sea Dash Sides, not by the sea where the ocean is, but Seasides.

So there's a lot of tracks of his done acoustic style.

Look, I'm going to finish my hour because Smithy has just been talking for about the entire time that I would have played another song, but I'm going to finish with one here.

And Smithy will like this because it's your old mate, Nick Barker, and it's the album that he did, Seaside.

So we had a bit of fun with this.

It's the... a Liberation Blue acoustic series that we play a lot of here, and there's quite some interesting songs on here.

All right, well, thanks for listening to my hour.

I'm wrapping it up.

Stay tuned for Smithy Smith's hour because it's coming up straight after Nick Barker and Action Jackson.

Lift it up
