Nick Andros

He doesn't just give us a generic action hero.

He gives us a deaf mute drifter named Nick Andros.

He gives us Frannie, a pregnant college student.

He gives us a petty sociopath, an aging sociology professor, a failed pop songwriter, a literal pyromaniac.

Let's talk about the mechanics of those choices because they aren't random.

Taking a deaf drifter, Nick Andros, and making him a central protagonist in the apocalypse is brilliant.

It changes everything.

How does being deaf alter the end of the world? You can't hear the pack of feral dogs creeping up behind you.
