So for this conversation, we're going to talk to Nick Rule.

He is the Commissioner of the Heart of America Athletic Conference and NAIA Conference.

in the Midwest, former athletic director, former head golf coach, and somebody who put a post out on X a couple of days ago that caught my attention just because it really outlined in a good sort of summary way some of the crunch that athletic departments are feeling.

sport because of all the dollars.

But yes, we need to let the free market do its work.

And I reached out to say, "I'd like to have you come on the show and talk about your perspective." Um, and, uh, he said yes.

Nick Rule is the commissioner for, uh, the Heart of America Athletic Conference, and has kind of joined us.

First, Nick, thanks for joining us.

Good morning.

Um, and you'll know what it's like to really, uh, be a, a part of it.

It's a, an, a cer- a part of an environment that is still what college athletics was meant to be.

Uh, Nick Rule's the commissioner for the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

Uh, he's on X or Twitter with all this crazy stuff.

I mean, QB, I will tell you, there are some good ones, though.

And one of the good ones, and we can get to these picks here in a moment, but one of the things that I felt... was interesting that I read from Nick Rule was that D1 Athletics right now are just, they're just living in deficit spending.

And I know that, you know, I know that the new way of college football is doing this.

But, I mean, UCLA has a $220 million cumulative deficit in their athletic department.

I mean, that is a fabulous spread.

And the results of this boys, T.A., Barn Eagle Relays, Nick Rule, Janky, they were... on mile split.

I had to do some fixing.

The girls came out fine.
