Niagara Falls

That's referring to Hudson Valley.

That's referring to, you know, Herkimer, Utica, Rochester, Niagara Falls.

It's all upstate New York.

Them people over there.

They need Niagara Falls.

Imagine the sheer terrifying roar of that water.

We are talking about 225,000 cubic feet of water plummeting over the edge every single second.

The Niagara Falls Power Company wants to harness that unimaginable kinetic energy and translate it into electricity.

It's the ultimate prize.

It is.

The next minute he's...

Niagara Falls.

Yeah, Niagara Falls.

Because when he's fighting with Sam, The boat's not moving how it is when they flick to the outside scene.

So that boat is like just rolling in it backwards and forwards, left to right.

The ultimate triumph, however, lay hundreds of miles away at the edge of a roaring precipice.

For decades, engineers had dreamed of harnessing the stupendous, thunderous power of Niagara Falls.

The International Niagara Commission, led by the eminent Lord Kelvin, had reviewed dozens of proposals, most of them absurd, pneumatic, or mechanical contrivances.

But after witnessing the triumph at the Chicago World's Fair, the commission awarded the monumental contract to Westinghouse and Tesla.

Instantly, power surged across 26 miles of wire to the city of Buffalo, New York, illuminating streets and powering streetcars with the captured energy of the cataract.

It was a miraculous achievement that signaled the final, undisputed victory of the War of the Currents.

The Niagara Falls project did not merely supply power to a single city.

It provided a universal template for the electrification of the entire planet.

we did a trip in 2019 where we went to...

Niagara Falls.

Niagara Falls.

And we hit all the Great Lakes, right? I don't know if we hit Erie, but I'd seen Erie.

But I really wanted to be able to cross off all the Great Lakes.

And that's...

Huron was the last one I had, and I hit that on my Niagara Falls trip, too.

So I've seen all of them.

What can we possibly avoid while still... trying to make the most of it for someone's first time.

I kind of associate it with Niagara Falls these days, just because something like that is so common to us.

But when you have relatives or friends coming here for the first time, it's, yeah, I guess we really should go see Niagara Falls, even though it is parking.

It just makes me want to rip my hair out.

Yeah.
