NHRA U.S. Nationals

The Stampede of Speed is, uh, you know, so, like, you have your couple races, uh, during the season.

You got Gainesville, you got the US Nationals, and you got the Pomona World Finals are, like, your three big, big, big ones.

I really think Dallas is creeping into that conversation as probably one of those premier ones.

Um, and yeah.

Jordan rolled into St. Louis last weekend, picked up a pressure-packed victory in the super gas category.

It's his fourth super gas win of the season to go along with a runner-up at the U.S. Nationals, and that vaulted him into the points lead ahead of Nathan Vrooman, who we've been talking about for the past month, how I said he's in the lead, but that number beside his name is a bit precarious.

Not only has Vrooman relinquished the lead, Vrooman's last points earning opportunities were in St. Louis.

He will not be the world champion.

And so, um, I remember at the US Nationals, um, McEwen had took me over to Joe Pisano and said, "Hey, Joe, the kid's got a problem with the piston," and because they were Venolia pistons.

And so, uh, you know, I was so fortunate to be around those guys, you know? And, uh, you know, legends, Roland Leong and, and, and all those guys and-

We start out in Pomona, California in February with the Winter Nationals.

We run all the way up to the U.S. Nationals, which is our Daytona 500 race and our Super Bowl.

That's always Labor Day weekend.

Once we get to that point, they crown a regular season champion.

He is entered in St. Louis.

And recent US Nationals winner, Hunter Piradola, he could make a run at this.

He is entered at St. Louis.

So those are your four Stock Eliminator racers to keep an eye on this weekend.

I beat the guy who had just won Super Comp at the U.S. Nationals.

uh, the week prior, that was my first top ET win.

Now, do you think that at that point it would have been unfair for me to go run junior dragsters? If I, I just beat the guy who won the U S nationals, the race for those guys in the finals.

Now we're getting into the 400, 500 range at the OG million.

We've seen like 600, 700 in the, in the small 800.

I mean, the smaller races, it's just like the, the fact of the matter is let's, let's just go back to the big race, the, the main event, the million dollar drag race, the, the, Most prestigious race in all of bracket racing, the U.S. Nationals of Drag Racing is what we've always called it ever since we started this show.

Just like we call the World Footbreak Challenge, that's the U.S. Nationals of Footbreak Racing.

Michigan, it was the first time in 66 years that they hosted the NHRA.

The last time they did was the 1960 U.S. Nationals at the now-defunct Detroit Dragway.

The following year, the U.S. Nats would move to Indy, where it's been ever since, since 1961, but...
