California Governor Gavin Newsom on Thursday signed laws aimed at protecting children from risks of social media and AI chatbots.

Tom Patterson, a creator of the Equal Earth projection, replaced the islands' Russian names with Etorofu and Kunashiri, the ones used by Japan.

Patterson's English language maps now also show the islands in gray, a color he says is neutral.

Patterson told NHK his online maps are his own and occasionally need updating.

He added that he's grateful to the Japanese government for clarifying how best to depict the northern territories.

NHK has learned that Chubu Electric Power Company is finalizing details to withdraw an application for a review required to restart two nuclear reactors at the Hamaoka Power Plant in central Japan.

It was revealed in January that Chubu Electric had falsified data for a review carried out by the Nuclear Regulation Authority.

The utility provided data that underestimated the maximum possible jolt of earthquakes in the region.

People in the United States are marking the anniversary of an event that changed their country and the world.

They're commemorating 25 years since the 9/11 terror attacks.

But that didn't stop him from delivering another speech to close out the convention on Thursday.

Trump made a pitch for what he called the most important election in our country's history, and he displayed his dedication to holding on to the Republican majorities in the House and Senate.

He embraced the idea that the midterms are a referendum on himself.

This frequency seems to work best during a window extending around six weeks either side of the northern hemisphere autumn solstice, or equinox.

On Saturday and Sunday, September 5th and 6th, it was actually the strongest signal on 25 meters, better than NHK on 11815 or Marti on 11930.

One of the best signals here in deep North America in our afternoons on the 25 meter band is 11610.
