nH Predict

We're starting with the news that UnitedHealth now has to open its record for the class action lawsuit that's accusing them of using an AI tool with a 90% error rate to decide whether people get coverage.

Remember that lawsuit saying that in 2019, UnitedHealth started using an algorithm called NHPredict.

And how it would work is that case managers would feed patient data into NH Predict, which would then estimate how long they'll need care by comparing their case to similar cases from the past.

Anyway, those case managers saying that by 2023, they were pressured to keep patient stays within 1% of that predicted date.
