And the reason I like it so much is because I am from Te Whakatoihia, and when I learnt this with my father, I went, What made Dominion Boys, or shall I say, the Kalaha Arts Trust back then, commission us all that time way back then? Brian McCarch, he was taught by the Master Carvers at the Māori Arts and Crafts Institute at that time by Hone and Pene Papa, who had a strong connection, Ngāti Porou, but a strong connection through to Whakatoria.
