Nez Perce War

But the 11th Corps happened to be commanded by a native-born American, our old friend, General Oliver Otis Howard.

You may remember him as the incompetent commander from the Nez Perce War all the way back in episode three, Fight No More Forever.

Remember him? You can't spell loss without Oliver Otis Howard.

Well, Oliver Otis Howard was incompetent in the Nez Perce War, and he was incompetent in the Civil War, too.

I have never been impressed by this guy.

And the 11th Corps' baptism of fire was the Battle of Chancellorsville.
