So unions, you know, were among those who That protest against ICE, you know, who who honked their horns when ICE agents were pushing.

So Trump's prosecutors in Minnesota seized, obtained the financial records of some of the leading most respected unions in the nation, the Service Employees International Union and my union, the Communication Workers of America, the Newspaper Guild Union.

because they're suspected of engaging in domestic terrorism because they had the audacity to stand up to Trump and stand up to ICE.

And not only that, Rick, you know, the AFL-CIO, you know, this middle of the road, you know, very sturdy, respected organization representing over 15 million workers and retirees.

I don't necessarily agree with that, but I'm curious about this.

Are they defending the public or their own paychecks? Suzanne Gordon joins me now, who's a CWA News Guild member and a co-author of a new PM press book called Courage or Complicity.

She's defending union worker rights because they want those VA jobs.

Jack, why are we going to San Francisco?

Well, we're going to do our broadcast next Sunday for the San Francisco-Oakland Newspaper Guild.

I like San Francisco, Mary.

The weather's so crisp, the scenery's so beautiful, and ah, the Golden Gate.

In addition to these strips, Jackson also worked on The Adventures of Bill, As Others See Us, Expedition Follies, Cinda, Speed Jackson, Skin Deep, and Society Sue for the Chicago Defender and other black newspapers, virtually dominating him with his work.

This led to Jackson to win two front-page awards from the American Newspaper Guild, one for his skewering of the House of Un-American Activities Committee for its attack on Hollywood, as Jackson Comics were known for its batting satire against racists and red vaders.

While his star was rising in black media, Jackson made a move in the white media as well.

He sold illustrations to pulps like Ziff Davis' Amazing Stories, starting with his three stories in July of 1938 issue.

But continuing on with our story of this awful attack on what remains of journalistic media in the, in newsprint in this country.

Um, of course, this has drawn a fierce response from the News Guild CWA, who said in a statement, quote, "The departure of these talented reporters, visual journalists, and writers will immediately leave gaping holes in local coverage for dozens of communities across the United States.

One of these papers will no longer have a dedicated reporter covering city hall.

Another will no longer have anyone dedicated to covering the state capital.

Okay.

Statewide, for sure.

News Guild President John Schlosse said in, on social media, quote, "McClatchy execs decided to push AI slop on news sites.

You can't pivot to AI, cut 40% of your local journalists and write, 'We remain deeply committed to local journalism.' You're lying." End quote.
