If you want to know whether or not the news media is doing its job, here's a simple test.

Look in the mirror.

Is your face a twisted mask of outrage, bigotry, and unforgiving anger with veins standing out on your neck while your children sob in the background crying, please don't be angry anymore, daddy, we'll try to be good? Well, thank the news media.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is no stranger to playing politics to his advantage.

Despite the fact that he was caught on mic saying he was ecstatic when Donald Trump was elected US president, the biggest boosts in his government's image has been from public feuds with Trump and the US.

While everyone gets super weird about the US government renaming Lake Ontario to some stupid bullshit with Google Maps following suit, and we'll certainly talk about that if on sufferance, Ford has been drumming the Ontario beat.

But while this has been what the news media has covered nonstop over the past now almost two weeks, Ford's damaging policies continue to wreak havoc.
