Newmont Mining Corporation
Newmont is the world's largest gold miner. It bought Goldcorp in 2019, combined its Nevada mines in a joint venture with competitor Barrick later that year, and also purchased competitor Newcrest in November 2023. Its portfolio includes 11 mines and interests in two joint ventures in the Americas, Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. The company is expected to sell roughly 5.6 million ounces of gold in 2025 from its core mines after selling six higher-cost, smaller mines following the Newcrest acquisition. Newmont also produces material amounts of copper, silver, zinc, and lead as byproducts. It had about two decades of gold reserves, along with significant byproduct reserves at the end of December 2024.www.newmont.com

D
9:52David FinchGUEST

D
10:09David FinchGUEST
So you can take the view, this is too complicated.
D
10:13David FinchGUEST
I don't know what's gonna happen, so I'm not gonna invest in it.

D
28:57David FinchGUEST
You know, it's gonna be off the charts CapEx to get this thing done, but you kind of expect to have a big investment to get a massive reward.
D
29:04David FinchGUEST
You know, the question for, for, for Nova Gold is, you know, who has got this money? You know, the answer is that it's only probably Newmont or Agnico who could contemplate that.
D
29:16David FinchGUEST
Uh, and that probably given the, you know, given the execution risks and the, and the size of the CapEx, probably the ideal thing would be a kind of joint venture like, like you see with the huge copper mines, right? So-

Newcrest was taken over by Newmont, I think a little over a year, a year and a half ago or so.

But Newcrest, before that happened, was really interested in Shelvelnose in West Haven.

And when the takeover happened, Fraser circled back to Ira and to Gareth and said, you know, I'm interested.

Gold...are you ready for a rebound?
J
16:08James KirbyHOST
The King Kong of the sector, the Goliath of the gold sector was always Newcrest, and they somehow managed to sell themselves right smack before the best gold rally we saw for, whatever, 30 years.
J
16:26James KirbyHOST
I mean, do you think that's true, first of all? I mean, Newmont is now the big one, right, because they bought Newcrest.

I mean, look, you definitely have, I mean, we're classified as the senior producers, and that's probably anything above a million ounces a year, of which, you know, that's North America, predominantly North American, because you've got, as you mentioned, Newmont, Barrick, Agnico Gold, uh, et cetera.
C
16:58Cameron JuddGUEST
Those sort of companies are producing well over a million ounces.

A
3:50Anthony MargaritGUEST
So, uh, the biggest part of, of what we're trying to accomplish in this phase of drilling at Mojave is to, uh, more pierce points into the bodies, grow our knowledge of the system, and get to the point where, yeah, we'll-- I think at the end of this program, the 3D model's gonna look pretty compelling.
A

Uh, maybe by the time we get our next release out here with some more Dragonfly results, we'll, we'll see where we're at there and start to draw interpreted structures onto these, uh, to these sections that we're showing.
