The New York Labor Department opened an inquiry into the strike and eventually mediated a favorable outcome for the workers that the mill owners were forced to agree to.

The strike ended after nearly three months, with workers winning their key demands, including 60 hours pay and no discrimination.

The workers approved the agreement during a mass meeting with state mediators and reportedly played the La Marseillaise afterward.
