Well, about 35 years ago, an artist friend of mine took me to the Metropolitan Museum, part of the Metropolitan Library on 42nd and 5th, the New York Library.

He was a member and he took out 46 pictures of Jesus, no two looked alike.

They were simply personifications of the artist who painted them.

It's been an amazing year and a half since the book released.

The Art Spy was named a Best Book of 2025 by the New York Public Library, Library Journal, and Hyperallergic, and named the 2026 Massachusetts Book Awards Nonfiction Honors title.

I would say the first thing I did was, even before I had an agent, even before I had a book deal or anything, it was just the seeds of an idea.

That was amazing to partner with NYPL, like such an institution.

And we tied it into, you know, promoting the beer in the tap rooms, promoting education around NYPL's offerings.

We did historical trivia at two of our tap rooms, kind of playing into...

the 250th anniversary of America.

In 1922, he won the Crescent Traveling Scholarship Award, which paid for his summer studies in Europe.

Upon his return, he participated in the groundbreaking exhibit of Negro arts in Harlem at the 135th Street branch of the New York Public Library on August 1st.

It was organized by Ernest Steinrose, who was noted for integrating the library staff.

At the event, Stoner was singled out by the press for his art, specifically his charcoal drawings.

His second middle grade novel, Middle School's a Drag, You'd Better Work, is an Amazon teacher's pick.

The Visitors, his third middle grade offering, was a 2022 New York Public Library Best Book.

Also, the author of the young adult novel Social Intercourse, Greg's next middle grade book, The Travelers, just came out on August 25th.

Greg writes for and about LGBTQ youth, creating the kind of books he wishes he'd had access to as a young reader growing up gay in the American South.
