So we're going to jump in.

I thought we'd start with the CBD since we happen to be sitting in the CBD.

I should mention we are at the Higgins Hotel in their rooftop Rosie the Riveter bar, just across from the World War II Museum.

Nice little spot here on a Thursday evening.

They have a pretty good happy hour here.

We're enjoying a couple beers, so we're going to start here in the CBD, Garrett.

August marks the birthday of New Orleans jazz legend Louis Armstrong.

In 2021, Hurricane Ida destroyed a building in the Central Business District of New Orleans where Armstrong spent much of his childhood.

Years later, our managing producer Alana Schreiber visited the space to learn about efforts to reconstruct the building and honor the legacy of Armstrong and the family who cared for him.

Today, we give that story a second listen.

I'm at 427 South Rampart Street in New Orleans, where the French Quarter meets the Central Business District.

I'm in an old building with a sand floor, wooden staircase, and light trickling in.

While it's currently in the middle of major renovations, 100 years ago, this building was the Karnofsky-Taylor shop.
