New Mutants

Dice are gonna dice.

So Dani here brings with her a new leadership for the New Mutants affiliation, Coming of Age.

Now, before I talk about what this leadership is, I want to talk about why it's awesome that we have another New Mutants leadership because you've played New Mutants a little bit, right?

Yeah, yeah.

I've dabbled in New Mutants a little bit.

So New Mutants has a leadership that is a tactics card that takes up a slot within your squad, unlike the Convocation, which I'm very used to.

So having to be functionally down a tactics card to get a leadership, which is admittedly good, I will say the New Mutants leadership is, is one of the better tactics card leaderships, but it's attached to a character in Magik who can, at times, be fairly squishy.

The ability to have a character that you can put on the table and be a leader and have the leadership on their card to then get that additional tactics card, I think can be very valuable.

I'm very keen to get both of them on the table.

I've been wanting to play a proper New Mutants team for a long time.

I was figuring I could use Nova for Cannonball, and now with Danny and with Magic and with Warlock...

I can run most of the traditional New Mutants team.

Very excited about this.

Anyway, that's another episode.

And even some characters getting, like, even character releases along the lines that work well for the leaderships.

Like, you've got someone, like, say, if you really wanted to, so Warlock, the X-Force and New Mutants character, him under Magneto just eating terrain to heal.

Cool, let's give out some power from that as well.

If you're running Mystique, putting Prowler under there.

uh new mutants technically right and then i yeah technically they're in there they're in there yeah yeah um and i could technically play sentinels because i also have not played sentinels

mighty avengers is potentially on that list right oh they are they are the new ones

yes i was trying to avoid blue marvel but i could play mighty avengers

The next affiliation? Oh, the other one, I really want them for something to work.

I just can't figure out what it is.

And it is New Mutants, right? It's like, how do I make, it's getting just magic, man.

Like, depending on magic, it makes me so sad.

Yeah.

But let's talk about New Mutants number 23.

Now, New Mutants number 23, the release date was September 25th, 1984.

And...

By the way, I want to talk about, as we go into this, Marvel Comics Secret Wars in 1984, every month of 1984, was the number one book sold.

and and and drew is is much like that where drew when he does it he's like i don't know this book wasn't much and and it's because that particular issue itself wasn't much but if you look at it in the grand scheme of things with the four issues you know together the whole art together maybe that was a great arc but this book was kind of insignificant you know by itself so yeah i totally get that and yeah

nothing yeah it didn't really yeah there's right it was kind of inert it was just it didn't move

yeah so we'll see we'll see what happens um i i liked it i thought the art was great um again i'm a fan of cloak and dagger but i was kind of irritated also like drew i'm kind of like i want them to hurry up and get to an end here and they didn't even go very far when they got here because cloak and dagger shows up at the last page being like yeah we're in the hospital i'm not going to help you and then we you know it's it's a bit frustrating um but at the same time i had a lot of fun with it i liked I like seeing the X-Men in the New Mutants.
