yeah i spoke to chris thompson from the earth band and he said that he remembers recording it and they just couldn't get it right and they ended up changing the beginning of it the little bit of the start and he says that took it off but he says he wasn't happy with it at all until he was in a car with they were traveling to a radio station with don henley and glenn fryer i think it was he came on the radio and don henley's word was oh that was amazing i can't believe it sounds so good and then he kind of changed his mind on the song and realized it was it was actually a good track yeah

yeah don henley i think he was uh he was a big fan of the hollies i remember he he sent me a song for us um new kid in town and and i didn't think it was good enough for the hollies I did take it, and the boss said, well, it's a bit, no, it's not the Hollies, really.

But, I mean, at least he recognised us as being able to be able to do one of those songs, you know, from the Eagles.

Wow.

And, uh, also with us, because the four of us don't get enough of each other on our other show, our director of social media and some of the most random music trivia that makes the professor even take note, it's the new kid in town, Mr. Justin Fry.

Justin- Talk to us about your journey with the Eagles and this album in particular.

Well, as we've gathered for the feast here tonight, uh, I-

The album cover is a photograph of the Beverly Hills Hotel taken by David Alexander, and among its ratings and chart highlights, well, we said it at the top of the show, Hotel California was an immediate critical and commercial success.

It topped the Billboard 200 chart, and at the 20th Grammy Awards, the title track won Record of the Year.

"New Kid in Town" won Best Arrangement for Voices.

The album was also nominated for Album of the Year, but lost to Fleetwood Mac's Rumours.
