I was an admissions recruiter for NJCU, which is now Keene University, before I transitioned down to work as a supervisor at University of Texas at San Antonio, where I made the switch to be a college counselor.

I got my start at San Antonio working with... faith-based students or faith-based education and uh since then i've relocated back to the new york new jersey area where i served uh in harlem new york and now i get to work in the uh very prestigious area of jersey city uh in the downtown area near newport uh so i've had the opportunity to work with uh many different backgrounds of students uh so What they consume in social media does vary, but I think there's kind of an underlying theme of what they appreciate and what they enjoy.

I would say for underwriting or underestimating, I think having more colleges use their students as social media ambassadors to really, like we're saying, showing versus telling, showing students what their Friday night or that Thursday night could look at if they were to enroll at the university.

I know TikTok is very huge, but I feel even in my time as an admissions ambassador at NJCU, oftentimes I would kind of lurk through the NJCU subreddit to see if students were asking questions that maybe they didn't feel comfortable coming to the admissions office and asking and maybe even doing something like, you know, I'm Nathan, I work for Knox College, I'm doing a Ask Me Anything, and then he'll run through the gamut of questions so that students can feel more seen and more heard.

I think that's something that maybe universities shy away from because Reddit is kind of like the anti-social social media platform, but I do think there's a lot of engagement going on there that they might be missing out on.

It's unclear at this point, however, when and where the other officers were wounded, but two of them were treated after being struck with shrapnel.

There was heavy gunfire that could have been heard for over an hour in what appeared to be an intense gun battle with the suspects, but the gunshots subsided around 2 o'clock.
